I searched and searched to find what class my 02 WRX is in, stock is GS ok, modify the turbo SM, but all I have done is put 17" rims and tires on it and have found quite a few answers, GS (Huh?), DSP, ESP, STS (not because it is bigger than 1.8 lt with a turbo). So which class is it? Last month in at an event I ran in GS with the 17"s, I took fastest time of the day overall (Awesome), but is it really fair to stay in GS with 17"s. So what class is it?

because of the 17's you're in SM or in DSP. According to the 2001 rulebook "all v6 and turbo 4-cyl. sedans under 3.0L not otherwise classified" you fit in DSP, unless there has been a release in FastTracks that I haven't sen as to where the WRX fits in SP

It's DSP for now, maybe CSP for later.

The SCCA just published the decision that the dealerships were acting as after market venders for the optional equipment on the WRX. If this applies to the wheels, you can't run in stock, but you could run in STS
"17.4. WHEELS.
A. Any wheels up to 7.5" in width that fit over stock brakes"

WRX has a high presure turbo system, STS is out unless there is a Fasttrack article somewhere that specifically includes the WRX in STS.

if you have the short throw shifter or the 17" rims your not in GS, but in DSP for this year.
