I want to see WRC cars on those truck tracks!! Side by side too!

I think those types of tracks would be more fun than the 2 lane specials. I know the 2 laners keep the distance equal (necissary for a timed event), but who cares. Let them fight for the line!!

We have probably the most well known one of those tracks in Crandon, WI. A rally car would absolutely be destroyed on one of those tracks. You don't realize how big the jumps and whatnot are until you see them closer up.

DWX- Have you actually seen a pro rally? I have pictures of rally cars, that I took myself (an impreza and an eclipse), over 6 feet off the ground on a tarmac stage. I have seen the track in Crandon and a race there, I think a rally car could do pretty well, probably better around some corners due to the lower CG.

650-700hp, awd, 1100kg, 0-60 in 1.8second, 8 cars at the same time on a tight rally track.

In dry conditions, I think it would edge the WRC car. Muddy, not so much. Rally cars can take the punishment i.e. Markko Martin Finland 2003

I've seen many prorallies and co-driven myself... I still don't think a 3000lb rally car could handle the jumps there.

The Pro trucks that race in the Corr series are in excess of 800 horsepower. I'd like to see a regular rally car do this 4-5 times a lap for 20 laps. Keep in mind that's a 4000 lb truck. Maybe a British rallycross car could keep up with them on a track like that but not a WRC car.

Rally cars are built for rallys

Stadium Trucks are built for Truck Courses.

They are not a fair comparison to eachother on their respective courses.

Someone could take a WRX and build it up to those Stadium Truck levels and probably compete quite well. And conversely someone could take a stadium truck adn build it to run well in a rally.

However they would kick eachothers ass in their respective circuits in the current race prep.

those trucks have about 6 times the suspension travel a rally car does. i dont think the rally car would last long. keep in mind Markko Martin broke his motor mounts jumping his car like that. I talked to Subiegal after the ramada rally and she bent one of her front control arms on a jump quite a bit smaller than those stadium truck jumps.

by why build a WRX to race with trucks, build a baja

baja is just a legacy. damn, u can tell just from that pic that the struct housing must be about 10cm in diameter. blows a rally suspension away. nad arally suspension destroys anything that most stret entusiasts consider for their car.

For reference, and healthy discussion....

Markko won that rally, and finished 2nd in 2004 with similar jumps on the Ouninpouja stages. I'll argue that flying through the air is not the fastest way around the course, and with that, the rally machine can equal a CORR truck.

Here's Petter Solberg in Mexico, where he won most of the stages after his retirement...http://www.swrt.com/cpimages/499787.jpg

And Colin's [McRae] Crest in Sweden.

If you look closely, I'm they guy with the brown hat to the right of the Norweigan flag. Jani Passonen in the OMV Lance grpN car caught the most air.

BTW, Ohlin's supplies adjustable dampening suspension only offered through Prodrive for you Impreza if you are interested..

Remember that Jaime is using stock components on her car mostly. i.e. brakes, drivetrain and what not.

Ivan was called the Ironman since he drove all 500 and 1000 miles by himself...no co drivers (a helicopter, and a thorough pre-run of the course). No stops for service or transit stages!

The old stadium courses were neat, but nothing in comparison to open dez racing. You definitely need more than 12" of suspension travel to simply get over things at speed and make the ride tolerable. Going through whooop in a safari rally prepped WRC car would still be more painful than in Ivan's old Toy pickup (pre-PPI Toyota). Ever hit a hard bump while sitting in a Sparco Corsa? Me coccyx no likey the bumps.

Maybe if you put Beard Superseats in a WRC car?
