The video above is on wet (or patchy wet) pavement. The drifting is almost exclusively during braking. I'm not sure the tire smoke everyone was marveling at wasn't at the transition from braking to acceleration, therefore not tire smoke from spinning under power.

I'm still waiting to see someone do it on dry pavement, under power. That requires some torque, which the WRX ain't got. It would also require some left foot braking, which would require even more torque to overcome.

the above post is incorrect, a stock dubyarex might not be able to, but with slight mods, drifting is only a good driver away. There was a post not too long ago of a demonstration of like a group c car or something like that, and on dry pavement, the fool was drifting like id never seen. anywyas ill look around for it.

Incorrect in what way? Tell me where in the above video that WRX was drifting under power. That split second puff of smoke from the right front tire does not a drift make.

I saw the same vid ButtDyno is talking about. That was drifting under power! But that car had enough power.

sorry my post came out wrong, what you said in the first paragraph is correct, but the second one saying that "I'm still waiting to see someone do it on dry pavement, under power. That requires some torque, which the WRX ain't got. It would also require some left foot braking, which would require even more torque to overcome." just seems like you are saying that they cant drift... they can. thats all.
