Okay so I am looking for the parts to build my engine, for anyone with experience and the knowledge what make Pistons and Rods have been known to work strongly and reliably for Subaru engines? Weisco? J&E? anyone else?
what specs on the rods/pistons if there are any? like different levels of strength on rods from the same company etc...
oh yeah this is going into a 2.5 litre block aswell.
TIA guys

You can get excellent custom pistons and rods, rings, rod bolts, wristpins, etc. from PAECO.

They do full built-to-spec crate engines, parts, custom cams, everything. They now do most reciprocating parts in titanium as well! I found them to be worth the money on an MG-B inline 6 race engine I helped a guy built up several years ago. You can even get titanium axle shafts!

The catalog I have lists Subaru EJ25 pistons for $420 a set for aluminum alloy pistons. You can specify compression ratio and options like glasspeening, balancing and lightening, etc.

Do a search on Paeco on the web. Their catalog was free, I think the number is (205)823-7278. They're in Alabama.

Hope this helps!

P.S. They do NA 2.5L in stages up to 328hp  at Stage 4! The "streetable" Stage 2 is 239hp NA!

I can tell you about a couple good one bad...

Bad/Arias...Pistons required to much clearence in a honda B18a I built for a friend...they along with the horrible R/S ratio killed the motor in short order. Many of my Z friends swear by them. And maybe they make some good stuff for them. But in speaking with some other honda builders I found they had similar experiences. Some say they would use them only for track only cars because of durbility. Others say they wont use them at all. I will also say that even though the sleeve was cracked after 8mos the pistons were visibly flawless, and checked and confirmed to be in perfect running shape still. This was in a NOS running high comp motor.

Ross, what can I say great pistones. Built a turbo B18c motor with them 3 years ago along with crower rods, it still runs today, no crazy piston slap. No complaints from the guy I built it for. He is also a friend.

Pauter rods...I've seen them hold up super well in Air cooled VWs(my auto roots), but I saw a turbo GSR die on dyno with them just after the re-build(not done by me). Tear down showed two rods broken!

Outside of this, most of my experience is all with stock internal builds. I have never installed JE,Weseco, or Cunningham stuff. But I hear great things about the all. This stuff is all my own opinion/observations. Feel free to rip up my engine building skills, I do not claim to be a pro.

It would be smarter to contact Jun through their american website, www.junusa.com , just a thought.

BTW-Jun is expensive, bue very high quality stuff.

What exactly does this strocker do by JUN? It's not that expensive only $600 :D Would you need to upgrade other parts after throwing these new parts in?

EDIT: If you look at Jun USA's site you will notice they only have 1 listing (I think) for the EJ25. Nothing like this listed on their site.

We do offer complete short blocks, but also the internals for self-installation. Go to our website and you'll see pictures with descriptions on individual parts. We work closely with our suppliers, (J&E, Pauter, Wiseco, etc.) to be sure our parts are of the highest quality and strength available. Our parts have been tested and proven on our own cars! If you have any questions we can help you with, just e-mail us! Thanks.

B-Spec as I understand it you are making a good deal of power in your car. I would like to know what make pistons and rods you PREFER to run personally?
TIA.

JUN USA's website is not the best kept up. It hasn't been updated or redesigned in years. Your best bet is to call them and when I did that a few months ago, all they said they had for the EJ25 was a flywheel and that cams might possibly be in the near future. I would give them a call again though just to be sure.

Also, the stroker kit would give you good increases in torque and moderate increases in hp. The quality of the stuff is awesome, I am personally looking into it for my EJ20, but very pricy. $5300 for the stroker kit on my car. Pistons are manufactured by Cosworth and sold as JUN, so that should tell you a bit abouth the quality and strengh of this kit.

Oops, I just relooked at the price. I thought it was $600 when converted!! I was thinking that was wayyyy to cheap. I guess so.
