Ordered a shifter and bushings today.

I got some money from family for the holidays, so I figured i'd put it toward something I want. :)

Hay just ordered the STI short shifter and bushing kit. I was wondering if there is an after market source for the shift rod bushings or are they only availible from Subaru? I seem to have some slop in the bushing right off the tranny rod?

Thank you.

Installed it last night (shifter and bushings) with the help of Stryker.

I love it!
The feel is increddible.

About those shift rod bushings, do you or anyone else make aftermarket ones? I called Subaru for them and they are like $45 A PEICE

On the other hand I got my shifter and my shirt on fireball, thanks (altho my wife stole the shirt and fireball right away  :D

Tom,

Just ordered lever, bushing, and knuckleball setup. The great pricing allows me to spend my $500 in subaru bucks elsewear.

flawless? not trying to be anal but i purchased a kartboy short throw shifter and bushings for my 2002 wrx and it feels sloppy to say the least! i'm starting to think it is the product after going to a bunch of subaru meets and hearing all of the same complaints.........CONSTANT VIBRATION(not mild) NOTCHY FEELING.....don"t get me wrong......the height is great and price is right but if the performance is so-so ill go spend for the sti short throw!!!!!!!!!!! once again.....i'm not trying to aply that it is a bad product(yet),but everyone that has it says the same thing!!!!is there a fix or are you saying that you have never heard this before??????????????

Hmmm
you might want to recheck the install on your shifter. make sure everything is well greased and that the bolts are torques to the right spec. ( 8 # for the center bolt) if it is loose you will get a vibration. Next time i'm up in the bay area i'd be more than happy to take a look at it for you.
There will be some increase in noise/ vibration with most upgraded shifters.Since you are removing the rubber isolator that gives the shifter the vague feeling in the first place. I'd be 99.9% sure you will get the same vibrations on the STi one too
