Nice times... With a little better 60 ft a 11.50 would be possible.

thats guys for your responses. My 60' times suck big time, the problem i was facing was gettin off the line cleanly. i think tyre pressures is a big problem and will raise them around 35psi to get sum wheel spin off the line.

im also goin to put in a kartboy short shifter and hopefully this will reduce the amount of throw having to change 6 gears :(

Very nice times tino.
How are you launching?I ran mine at the strip about a month ago and was getting around the 1.8-1.7 on most runs.I found that if i dump the clutch at 6k it gets a bit of wheel spin then grips, over 6k and it spins more but dosnt help with the 60ft time.Under 6 it will just bog. This was with std tyre pressure and a greasy surface(it was spitting a bit).
This is also with the std vf35 with around 200kw on AVO's dyno.

hey OZ. doin very hard launches round 7000rpm plus then slipping the clutch a lil to get wheelspin. found the revs drop out of the useable band very easy thus stuffing the 60' times. But as they say practive makes perfect. hopefully.

Yep it takes alot of practice. The other factor with the 6spd i find is the 4th-5th change towards the end.I think you lose a bit of time with this as its not only a extra change but its also easy to miss a gear.

For the kilowatt challenged, 254 kW= 345 hp ( in this case, 345 whp)

Nice going for a 2.0 (or even a 2.5) !

if you can get the 60' down you will see some good improvement at the end of the track

i hope so. What do you guys think i can do to improve my 60'. As i said previously im leaving the line at 7000rpm plus, but wot else in my technique is needed to be changed?

are you bogging the car at all when you launch?...

what injectors are you running and what max duty cycle are your seeing?

tino
12-03-2004, 02:15 AM
running around 1.75 bar of boost (alot i know). but i normally run around 1.5 bar.

The car seems to be bogging down off the launch, this might have to do with tyre pressures and the fact that this turbo needs around 5000rpm to get moving.

Im not sure of IDCs cos i dont tune the car, but my tuner thinks that there still at the safe limits (ill find out exactly wot they are). Im running standard pink 550s injectors. Im also using 98 RON plus octane booster.

i thought so also mate but speaking to him many times he thinks that the setup is fine, hes also really conservative (i.e wont set it up to blow)

Im going to have to say that you are out of injector. Your car making 120 mph will put you in at high 300s low 400s for HP. I have maxed out 550s at stock fuel pressure at 370... on race gas wich tends to give you a little more room with smaller injectors than pump gas would.

im running at around 350hp atw so id have a guestimate to say that my injectors are close to their max duty cycle. i hear no pinging etc to suggest that the settings arent correct. im also running on a higher octane 98 which will also help.

in saying that im looking at getting some 850s to ensure that theirs no problem wotseva :)

thats a HUGE fuel pump... 500 lph!!!???? Most of us will never need more than a Walbro 255 lph!!

People have made 400whp on pinks plenty of times. He is at least 400whp IMO, with 120mph traps.

Wow, with a vf35? Can you post your mods? Any quarter mile times? Thanks.

The mods at that time were 3" turbo back with splitter(no cat in dump),EBC,500hp walbro pump,AVO silicon intake,AVO pod filter, boost set at 18.5 psi,inj at 82% duty,smt-6 tuned by avo.
I ran it at the drags and got a best of 12.8 at 106mph,1.83 60ft.
Was the first time i had ever been on a drag strip so wasnt to bad.Got a few 1.7 60ft but stuffed up the 4-5th gear change so only got a 12.9 on that run.

I have just fitted a AVO400s,740 inj and got 212kw atw on 16psi with alot of timing pulled as was starting to ping at 5.5 due to the std I/C not being able to handle the 33deg c day.Had water spray on as well.
Will be up grading I/C and getting another tune with a bit more boost and timing should be looking at 220-225kw atw.
Will then take it back to the strip and see the differance.
