I want to have one tuned ECU and have one stock one. since there is an immobilizer on the 05s, do i have to have the dealership match the ECU to my car, or can a shop do that? also, if i keep my stock one off for a while, and say i put it back on and go to the dealership, will it show difference in mileage that maybe the ECU stored to whats on the odometer? will having an ECU off the car for a while clear those like VIN/CIN/CVN numbers? i dont mind having the flashed ECU cleared, i just want to keep one stock so i can get my car smogged and stuff. thnx for the help

Sounds like you need a Cobb AP.

I am pretty sure that won't be necessary. Just hang out for a while until Ecutek finds a way around it. From what I understand, the reflash right now only removes the CVN code and not the VIN code. Anyways, by the time you have to smog it, I am betting that the problem will be solved.

AFAIK there was a post about this and ecutek responded by saying that finding a way around the CVN and VIN code issue was illegal... i'm curious about this also... especially since i'm looking to do some engine management sometime in the near future... what about the hydra as an ecu replacement?
