I just got a blue 05 turbo and was wondering what is the best performance exhaust to pursue. I dont want the typical honda style loud, unbearable, all sound and no go exhaust. In the past on my Ford products I have had good luck with Borla and magnaflow. I was thinking that my first mod should be exhaust then intake, then maybe computer work. Is that what everyone has been doing?
Thanks Bill

Well, if you've never heard a modified Subaru (boxer engine) then you are in for a nice surprise. No buzzes, just a low rumble. I haven't modified a Baja exhaust so I can't really comment, but I have had a WRX with a twin tip Bosal 3" cat back...I loved it.

Xceleration. com is the only one i know of that offers a cat back exhaust.Thats what i got for mine,i don't have the mid pipe on cause its to long.So beware the mid pipe will be to long causing it to push the inlet pipe to the muffler into the LR axle inner CVJ causing a knocking noise, thats what happened on mine.So i just have the muffler on there and it has a good not loud sound.I don't like the 4 in tail pipe tip, makes it look like a ricer.I'm planning on changing that with a twin outlet tip.Good Luck

has anyone put on a downpipe & exhaust? I'm wondering if the dp would make the exhaust in the interior noticably loud or create a drone.

Rallitek has a Borla header and Magnaflow exhaust system they sell. They have it on their own Baja as well.

Did a muffler shop make it up for you, or were you able to purchase a kit?

Just in case you missed this thread below:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=678162

http://www.xcceleration.com/imp-gallery-05-bajaturbo.htm

That is a true 3" from down pipe to the muffler and also comes with 2 cats
one on the down pipe and one on the mid pipe.
Don't waste your money on cat-backs, will not do you any good
and will not fit right because they're made for NA Baja's.
Anyway, It's pricey but will do the job. g-luck

Last week I had installed the xcceleraion 3 inch turbo back. It has turned out fantastic. They are accepting orders (mine was the first). Not too loud (but healthy) and quite unobstrusive at cruise. The quality is excellent and all stainless. I wrote a thread last week detailing what ocurred and you should not have the issue that ajabrut had as they took meaurements before welding the flanges so it fit beautifully. My understanding is that Sam from xcceleration is making the adjustments for the center pipe as it was approx. 3/4" too long, as supplied. The performance increase is substantial (I also have a K&N filter in the stock air box, with the turbo spooling up much more rapidly than stock. I can not say enough, this is the way to go. Xcceleration has photos on their web site of my install. I do agree that the 4" outlet, while beautifully finished is not to my liking (the system is 3" all they way through, so why the bigger outlet) but the system does the trick.
The thread is "3 Inch Turbo Back=Power".

Dear Santa (and/or Visa/MC/Amex),
Please send me a Turbo Back Exhaust system for my Baja. I promise to pay back all $1300 (plus shipping and tax) over the course of several years at a reasonable APR. So please increase my credit line or shove the pipes down my chimney (that sounds SO wrong) and I promise to be mostly good boy for 2005.

Thanks,
fdg008

It would be nice to see them put a twin tip outlet on there muffler instead of that canalope launcher that they have now.

I agree, or at least offer an alternative. I will take it up with Sam when I get a chance. But even given no other choice, the system is a good one. By the way, I also installed his rr sway bar and it has greatly neutralized the handling. Very easy install (I did it while the exhaust was being fitted). I also found out (at least in the rear) how Subaru raised the car: four 2inch spacers to the body pick-up points. So it would seem to be an easy lowering by just removing them and replacing the bolts with shorter ones, but....the front is still frustrating me. Ahh, such trials!!!

I'm happy with the fit and sound of the muffler,i'm just not a big fan of that huge tail pipe tip.Makes it look ricey.

Does anyone have any sound files of this exhaust yet?
