Currently I am the owner of a 96 gsx. it is unmolested as of yet and before I get down and dirty (modding the **** out of it) i wanted to do a recap that this was the right car for me. Outside of the car being cheaper with the cost of the car around 10k (very low milage) all the aftermarket parts and services seem to be very expensive for us auto guys. There are only a few shop building an all out race auto trans and only about one shop doing it right. For their tranny, billet TC, and a manuel gear selector box with installation runs about a little under 5k. Outside of the trans every thing else aftermarket is cheap.

since the mitsu tranny is not very reliable with any amount of power it is kind of important that you do the full works with it for reliability insurance. Some guys have gotten away with 300 or so for a while, but I'm looking for around 350-400 to the wheels on pump.

I guess what I want to know is how reliable are the subby auto's under alot of power, I know the manuels have had some problems but I havn't heard a lot about the auto's. How much work/money goes into a 400hp daily driver auto? And how long do they last?

Also if any one knows a place that has times posted for the auto guys that would be cool. I am looking to trap some where in the 120 range, and in an auto that put you some place in the high 11's in dsm world.

Thanks for any and all info and responses.

Later,
chris.

forgot, what's the widest rim/tire setup you can tuck under without rubbing, and how well do subies respond to pump gas?

thanks,
chris
