View Full Version : '05 STi Alarm Problems...

Hi all,

I just picked up my '05 STi and am having an issue with the keyless entry/alarm. When I lock/arm and unlock/disarm the factory alarm, the alarm chirps, but doesn't flash the park lights.

However, when I set off the alarm, it DOES flash the park lights - so I know it's not a connection issue between the lights and the alarm module. As far as I know this is not an option to change - only disabling the chirp is an option.

I know I can take it in for warranty, and I will if I have to, I just don't want the grease monkeys tearing apart my brand new car! :(

Thanks for any help.

Are you sure that you actually have the factory alarm? I don't know if it's changed for the '05's, but on '02-'04's the keyless entry was standard with the alarm upgrade as an option. With just the standard keyless entry, the lights would not flash on lock/unlock, and there was still a panic function that would set off an alarm.

Thanks for the reply.
Well I guess I don't have the security upgrade that you're talking about. But there was another STi just like mine that did not list any security upgrades on the window sticker and the park lights flash fine!

I wish I knew.

Yeah, should have mentioned that possibility too. Would have been more obvious if you had said the security light was blinking.

I never understood this what is the point of valet mode, wouldn't you want to see that the car is armed?

I love my sti's alarm.. it beeps and flashes twice :-)

I just can't see why you'd want that to be off?

Ueah I think Valet mode is dumb too - especially when I don't know what it is and schedule an appointment with my dealership to 'fix' my alarm.

If it makes you feel less dumb, I was wondering what was wrong with my '05 wagon. Thanks for posting the solution.
