so, what do I need? I cant find any info easily online or with searches here, which turn up the reverse of what Im trying to do :D

Im guessing its a module to add....and it might allready be there since the Canadian cars have them. Im importing a USDM RS into Canada so I need to add the DRL to pass inspections. :furious:

thanks for any help

Even US cars had it that year. I bet someone just unplugged it. Do a search on disabling DRLs and you'll probably find out how to hook them back up.

I never bothered to even look if the car has DRL's or not. I assumed the USDM models dont have them. I'll take a look.

USDM GCs didn't have DRLs, Subaru didn't use them here until 02. I don't know how much of the necessary wiring exists on the US models, there is a bit of additional circuitry involved. You may want to try to get a hold of the wiring manuals for both the US and Canadian versions (if available) and compare them.

Sorry for my assumption. My 2000 Outback had them (Legacy, though).

I called 2 of the dealers in the area and they said its only a wiring change that is needed. quoted 1-1.5 hrs of labour. If I knew what to do I could do it myself, but I have no clue where to start.

Maybe they have a kit up in Canada to put them in? Since it's a legal requirement there and you don't want to mess anything up I'd let them do it.

Service manual, and look behind the glove box and see if you have the DRL module - I suspect you should have it, as I don't recall a different wiring diagram without DRL on that year.
