View Full Version : New optima 75/25 does it fit? fredrex 12-10-2004, 07:17 PM Hello Everyone per a press release on optimabatteries.com they have released a new yellow top that will fit our cars and many other sport compacts. Can anyone confirm this? -Zach Mulder 12-10-2004, 07:48 PM Just took a look at that. It looks like the 75/25 is a slightly smaller Yellow Top version of the 75/35 "universal" type Red Top. There is no specific need for the universal, it has both side and top post terminals but this is unnecessary and the side post locations make it necessary to replace the starter cable as with the universal Red Top. If you want a Yellow Top for your car go with the D35 instead, it will be a direct replacement for the stock battery just like the 35 Red. fredrex 12-12-2004, 10:58 PM are you sure the d35 yellow is direct replacement? It doesn't look like it in the picture on remybattery.com. I have a 500 watt stereo which i'm sure would be fine with a redtop but if i can get similar reserve and CCA's with the yellow why not go yellow is my dilema? -Zach Mulder 12-12-2004, 11:13 PM The D35 Yellow and 35 Red are physically identical in dimensions and terminal placement. The differences are in weight (yellow is 4 lbs. more), CCA (Red is higher) and reserve (yellow is higher), as well as the better deep cycle capability of the Yellow. If you plan to run your stereo often with the engine off go with the yellow, otherwise the Red should be ok. |
