View Full Version : 12s at last!
randyspeed 12-12-2004, 01:49 AM Well people after months of struggling with my 60 ft and I still do, tonight at Salinas Speedway in Puerto Rico I finally ran 12.9 @109 mph
My night started with 13.8 @110
13.6 @110
13.3@110
13.1@111
and finally my so waited 12.9 with 1.999 60ft.
I think my trap speed is really good.
Anyways take care people
STi-MAN 12-12-2004, 01:51 AM congrats on the time
Skully 12-12-2004, 02:30 AM hmm. Nice times, but your 60ft is horrid. you should be low 1.8's maybe high 1.7's
but still awsome man.
STI2005PR 12-12-2004, 03:05 AM It's about time Randy.
Ask Jorge del Castillo to show you how to get better 60' without damaging your tranny.
How was race wars????
And btw as soon as I get my header install on my sti we have to run again.
Take care dude.
Gaby

randyspeed 12-12-2004, 10:56 AM WRX with Trubo Xs Stage4 Vf39, injectors, pump, utec, profec b 2 BC, STI USDM top mount, 5Zigen, Cat Back, downpipe, uppipe, injen cai and custom tune by Gadiel.
Installed a header but I did not set up the car for it, so its just there, I know we can get some more ponies, I put down without header 322 awhp and 304 tq.
serendipity 12-12-2004, 11:15 AM With a 5 speed and those traps, shouldn't you be going 12.4 or so? I ran 12.5s on 109mph traps in my STi, and you have one less shift, right?
CK02WRX 12-12-2004, 11:45 AM From my experience with 109mph trap speeds from my wrx 5 speed:
1.7's 60' = 12.3 - 12.4 et
1.8's 60' = 12.5 - 12.6 et
1.9's 60' = 12.7 - 12.8 et
With 111mph traps I have hit 12.4 -12.5 et's with 1.9's 60'.
midnite_wrex 12-12-2004, 02:43 PM randy how much boost are you pushing? also what dyno/gas?
hotrod 12-12-2004, 03:32 PM Congratulations on breaking into the 12's.
Just focus on making a quick 1-2 shift, most people plateau near 1.9 sec 60' times until they work out that shift. It occurs just as you are completing you 60', so if the shift takes too long you end up coasting the last few feet of the 60' interval.

sprx19 12-12-2004, 03:38 PM  Thats a lot of power from a vf39 on a 205 motor. Wish that guy would tune my car.
randyspeed 12-12-2004, 10:47 PM Update!!!
Today I ran 12.6 @111 mph with 1.946 60ft.
Finally I got to the time I wanted, but I know that can go lower with more driving practice. And thanks for the tips Larry!
randyspeed 12-12-2004, 10:59 PM 1.946 60ft.
0.765 Reaction Time
5.449 330 Ft.
8.229 1/8 Mile
10.63 1000 Ft.
jblaine 12-12-2004, 11:22 PM Was that because you tuned for the headers or just shifted faster?
randyspeed 12-12-2004, 11:47 PM I just shifted faster :)
No I have not tuned for the header yet, Gadiel will handle that later but for now it works like a charm, I improved 2 mph with just changing the stock manifold for a header.
STI2005PR 12-12-2004, 11:57 PM He was driving without fear today. Congrats Randy

randyspeed 12-14-2004, 08:05 AM 24 psi
pezman04wrx 12-14-2004, 08:17 AM 24 psi
Wow ... ... 24 lbs on a vf-39 ... Just wow ... Are you running race gas? Nice numbers ... Looks like you'll get better numbers as you work out your shifting and 60' ... Good job ... :D
dug-e-fresh 12-14-2004, 05:19 PM Congrats on the 12.9 and now 12.6... now work on the 60ft some more. Your 111 trap is good for 12.3-12.4 maybe better, goodluck!

02WRX_BLUE 12-14-2004, 05:25 PM Congrats! I should go to PR to learn how to drive.......
randyspeed 12-14-2004, 11:41 PM I dont drive that good, I would say my 12.6 was a lucky pass, plus I was pissed at some friends that were giving me a hard time cause I was scared ****less of driving my car in that track, it has VHT like hell. But hell, everything went fine and Im happy. Besides I can now try and challenge a friend o'mine with a G35 with NOS that traps 114 mph, but that car is way heavier than my wagon, so we'll see.
Cheers everyone
randy congrats w the times on your grocery shopping wagon...feel the power of Gadiel tuning
Carlos_WRX 12-15-2004, 07:54 PM Congrats Randy u have spent alot of time and money to get to those times u deserve it
randyspeed 12-16-2004, 04:34 PM Money? Not that much trust me, low budget racing is tha best heheheh
Gfunk720 12-16-2004, 07:00 PM Isnt 24 psi a little overkill on that VF-39, eh?
Probably is very linear and nice on the street, maybe time for a bigger turbo?
Nice times, 1 fast wagon
powerleak 12-16-2004, 07:29 PM is your vf39, ported, larger wheel, etc? defintely would like to see if you can share how you're pushin 24psi.
randyspeed 12-16-2004, 11:55 PM completely ported yes :) Also with external wastegate Tial 38mm
Now we're talking!! Good 2 know that, hehe.
FiKtIOn 12-17-2004, 02:09 PM completely ported yes :) Also with external wastegate Tial 38mm
Wow, never heard of external WG on a VF-series turbo.
STI2005PR 12-17-2004, 02:22 PM Wow, never heard of external WG on a VF-series turbo.
Everyone down here in PR runs them like that.
