Ah yes the "JDM Morette Type" lights. They are either OEM lights that have been modded or knockoffs. The only way we'll know for sure is if someone here buys them and tells us. You're more than welcome to be the first. :)

They look iffy, just like modded OEM's. Fitment may be less of an issue than the quality of the light itself; I would be worried about problems with fogging/condensation. Unless the manufacturer/distributor has some sort of policy guarantee on those lights, it's a thumbs down IMO.

As of last Friday, I recall at least one bid on one of them, so we could be hearing a review soon enough.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the replica retains the moisture relief hose just like the oem headlights, and that it seems an alignment mechanism is also there to line up the low/high beams. The existence of the moisture relief hose (for the lack of a better term) leads me to believe that condensation should not be a big concern. What would imho be really important is whether the chrome coating on the low/high beam reflector surface is long lasting & heat resistant or not.

If the clear lens is durable enough, this may be another inexpensive starting point for a DIY. :)

Basically these look like modded 02/03 Impreza headlights. Bake the lights, pull them apart, then paint what you want and put them back together. Bake them again to re-seal.

5$ in Spraypaint and 2-3 hours worth of work. Thats all it took me, and mine look fine, and almost exactly like that!

Don't buy anything from 4caroption. They scewed me over on a set of M3 mirrors for my impreza. They where listed as fitting my car, but the ones they sent me did not fit. 4caroption refused to do any thing. All they would said is that I don't know how to install them and that they where diffently the right mirrors. It doesn't take a xpert to install mirrors and I sent them a pic of what the right mirrors look like and still nothing.

I used to work across the street from 4caroption. Alot of these aftermarket places they don't know their own products that they are selling. So they ship out alot of stuff that is wrong. :lol:

Im not trying to be a d*ck or anything, but if you do your own, you end up with only one set of headlights. If you buy these, you can sell your other ones (without doing any hard work) for over 200.00. Before anyone argues with me, go on ebay and look at the one guy that sold his pair for over 230 bucks. So cost is not an issue here. You are actually MAKING money while getting the lights you want, even if these are stock lights that someone else modified.

Well it only seems logical to me to get the new lights... wait for a while to see if they are what you expected and are as good working as your original lights, but just look better (in your opinion)... then you could sell your old ones. Seems like a decent alternative to doing all the taking apart and painting yourself, not that it's insanely difficult, it just adds factors that the person doing the modding could screw up.

I won't name any names but all aftermarket headlamps / taillamps out right now are crap. Just like the WRC look-alike headlamp replacements on ebay. Some of the many problems with aftermarket headlamps are:

1. sealed incorrectly (#1 problem) which causes condensation to build up inside the light.
2. the plastic is cheap and ends up breaking off or the lens ends up cracking. Usually this happens during shipping.
3. alot of these lights have poor electrical wiring. They come loose or it ends up getting fried.

My suggestion would just find a used pair of OEM lights for $100-200 and paint them yourself.

Definitely a good idea. Just comb through the Personal For Sale classifieds forum here and you'll find someone sooner or later. Heck, i've seen some go for $50-75. :)

Sorry, but I will have to disagree with you here. Of course I will say most are crap, but my TYC taillights have proven to be a higher quality. No problems as of yet, and I use them all through winter. When you completely change a design, you are going to run into problems as with those phony WRC headlights that are just straight garbage. These are identical to stock, besides the black of course, how much could they possibly be off of stock. Just get em, check em out, and if you dont like them, return them.

I WILL agree with you on headlamps, but my explanation of these headlights are in the matter of design. In other designs, I doubt that they are tested and therefore result in poor quality and deterioration. These are exactly like stock all the way to the back of the housing, and therefore that design has been tested. Now the only thing that worries me is the quality of the plastic and seal. That is where my first question comes in.

Morettes.I bought a pair of ebay used.They were pre painted the same color as my vehicle and had the stone sheilds as well.I paid $500 and it was the best investment i ever made!

If you don't want to paint them yourself, pay the $200+ for the eBay lights. OR, go to your regional forum, post "Who can help me paint my headlights for $$$/beer/pizza, etc," and do it that way. It's your car and your money....
