I'm an audio noob, but I just got through upgrading the system in my 2005 WRX and I'm loving it! Thanks to all the members of this forum for giving me the info needed to select the equipment and hook it up right.

Here's what I've got:
MB Quart PCE 216 6.5" components in front
Innovative Automotive thick spacers (made installation a snap)
Dynamatted the front doors
Alpine MRV-T420 amp (powering the Quarts)
Navone N-777 LOC

It sounds great, although I slightly exceeded my $500 budget. I was a little concerned about using the stock head unit, but it really does sound nice.
