Hi guys,
I need some advice regarding my engine build and am hoping someone out there might be able to help.
I have options regarding where to start. The only thing I have for certain is some hard ass con rods, good for over 600bhp.
The thing is I am aiming for 450lbft and 450bhp, so I need the right hardware to make this happen.
I am running a 22B in the uk, and although the engine is fine, I am removing its short block and have access to the heads as donors for the new short block (although i would rather buy new sti heads, it is proving difficult).
In short, block wise where do i start? whatever i choose, it will be closed deck. SO do I go for 2.2, 2.2T or 2.5.
If I run either 2.2, I will be changing the crank to a phase 2 2.5 to increase the stroke, I would leave the 2.5 at standard displacement.
I just want to know the differences in the blocks between the 2.2 and the 2.2t. Are they marked differently as the block in the 22B just says EJ22 on it. I am inclined not to get the 2.5 as the headwork required to mod the sti heads lokos like a nightmare, but there are companies over here. Are there any other head options out there that will run to over 8k rpm safely?
And one final point. Anyone have any idea where I can get a closed deck 2.2 or 2.2t from?
