When its cold out and i havent run the car all night, i sometimes have a problem that after i pull away in 1st if i would say get to 2500rpm, Ill Clutch in and the engine will stay running @ 2500 until in shift to 2nd, no matter how long this takes (only left it for maybe 15 seconds before i decided i didnt like it and shifted and drove on. Is this normal? Im not really worried, i figure the engines just cold. I let it idle for maybe 45 seconds before i pull away and it Only happens when its very cold and just started so i dont think its a sticky throttle..

That occasionally happens with my car in cold weather, too. If I don't let it idle for a long period before driving off, it would hang out at the rpm that it stays at as I shift into the next gear and lurch the car forward as the next gear forces it into lower rpm. Sometimes it throws a CEL that relates to the air sensor, but goes away a drive or two later. I don't think it's bad; it's just annoying.

ok - as long as its not something my engines telling me im doing wrong, ill let it idle a little longer, i just read on some oil page that Idle isnt fast enough to distribute cold oil well enough in the engine.. and that driving at low speeds is better than letting it idle for 10 min. think it was penzoil's site.. maybe quakerstate?
