I have a 97 legacy2.2 automatic and a wrecked 98 2.5 rs with a 5mt and i would like to swap my 2.5 motor into the legacy and use the stock legacy tranny, my question is what ecu options do i have, can i use a 98 2.5rs automatic Ecu? Can i use a 98 or older 2.5gt auto tranny ecu? also does any one know what the rear diff. ratio is on a 97 legacy?
thanks
Mike

Now, I dont know anything about your question but why would you wanna keep the automatic?

If the rear diff. ratio of a 97 automatic legacy is 4.11 then i plan on doing the tranny and engine swap but if not i will have to find an auto ecu so please some one answer my question

maybe i should search

You should be able to swap the 2.5 in and keep the same ECU. You will have to use the same sensors from the 2.2 in order to keep the ECU happy. There's a few stickys in the conversions forum on this subject.

Maybe I'm just a noob, but maybe posting in the conversion forum would be helpful too?

Rear diff should be 4.44.

I suggest you look into what a royal pain in the arse a tranny swap is before you ask such noob questions... An engine swap will take a seasoned Subby shadetree 8-10hours. A tranny swap will take upwards of twice that...

Why do you say that? I would say the opposite.
