I'm starting to notice my 98' 2.5RS is using oil. When I tear it down I'm going to put higher compression pistons a new set of cams and do a little head work. Who makes Bearings and Rings to stand up to the increased stress created by the new parts?

for rings, check out total seal. for bearings, thats a different story entirely. the stock ones will be fine as long as you are sticking with stock rods. if you go with aftermarket rods, you will have to have bearings custom ground for your application.

I'm attempting to stay with stock rods but I don't like the stock bearings as they started making noise just after 100,000 miles (mostly highway).

there are no aftermarket bearings available for subaru. i've been in lengthy discussions with several engine builders about this. but, you can do this:
Engine Bottom End Components
Crankshaft Low Friction (Oil Shedding) $170.00/ea.
Connecting Rods (oil Shedding) $20.00/ea.
Bearings -Single $8.00/ea.
................-Main 8,6 or 4 Cyl., Rod 8 Cyl $41.50/set
................-Rod 6 Cyl $35.50/set
................-Rod 4 Cyl $28.50/set
Oil Pump $55.00/ea.
