Hi. Why does Subaru list the curb weight of the WRX sedan with manual transmission at 3085 lbs and Car and Driver says it's 3125 lbs and Road and Track says it's 3130 lbs?

TimStevens 07-05-2001, 09:04 AM Do the mags test with a full tank of gas, perhaps? I believe 3085 is the "dry" weight. You figure 16 gallons X approx. 3 lbs/gallon = 48 gallons. 3085 + 48 = 3133, which is right around their measurements. -tim subarurabbit 07-05-2001, 10:08 AM don't forget weight of driver and test equipment... Roger douglasboudreaux 07-05-2001, 11:02 AM The sticker inside the door jam on my wagon says the "GVWR" i2 4,190 lb. What is the "GVWR"? Doug Ginseng 07-05-2001, 11:45 AM GVWR stands for Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. It is the maximum recommended loaded weight of the car including gas, passengers and cargo. mborg 07-05-2001, 01:00 PM Originally posted by TimStevens You figure 16 gallons X approx. 3 lbs/gallon Gas is lighter than water, but not by that much. Water weighs 8 lbs/ gal. I'd say gas is probably about 6 lbs/gal. So a full tank of gas weighs about a hundred pounds. SubyRacer 07-05-2001, 03:33 PM its not just the WRX dude, look at all mag reviews of all cars, the weights of the cars when tested always vary from mag to mag and from what the factory says the car ways. |
