View Full Version : Dang oil... quick questions about dealerships

Hello there. Ok, well, my oil crisis is still at hand. I've been so busy this week with exams, I haven't been able to fix my oil leaking problem. My only thought is that its the crush washer, since I forgot to replace it. Oil filter is great, and no leaks. I only fear it is something worse. So, my question is: what would be the approximate price difference between going to my dealership (Folger Subaru/Charlotte), or simply going to a local lube shop? Think it'd be better to simply go to the dealer? I'd just rechange the dang oil myself, but the nearest lift or good jack that is availble is about an hour away at a friend's house. Anyway, any comments would be appreciated guys.

Unless your car is lowered, or your are, hmph, fat, you can change it no problem without jacks.

I would say if you must take it to someone, take it to a quick lube place and watch them do it to ssee it is done right, and bring a crush washer and watch them put it on.

Better yet, Spend $20 on Rhino Ramps at the local AutoZone/Kragens, and do it yourself. RR are great, I use em.
