I just got this email from Subaru of America about the prospect of a STi version of the WRX in the states. What do you think?

Dear Paul,

Thank you for visiting the Subaru Web site and for your continued interest in Subaru products! We appreciate your loyalty very much!

Subaru is seriously considering the feasibility of an STi version of the WRX for future model years. But, we do not have any definite plans at this time. If an STi version of the WRX becomes available in the United States, it would probably not be for a couple of model years. Since we are just beginning to market the WRX to the US consumers, it is too early to confirm the likelihood of offering an STi version in the US.

Even though magazine articles have stated that the STi version is coming to the US, the decision to bring the STi here has not been officially established yet. The magazines were a little premature with their 'announcement.' It was based on our statement at a press event that if the WRX is well received by the US buying public, we would look seriously at marketing a US version of the STi.

We appreciate that you took the time to contact us! Based upon this information, I would say you are pretty safe in going forward with your plans to purchase the exciting WRX!

I will forward your suggestion to offer an STi version of the WRX in the US to our Product Planning Department for their review and consideration!

Please feel free to contact us again with any further questions, comments or concerns!

Best wishes,
Sandi Parente-Geiges

I got an idea. Every I-club member should write to SOA and tell them that it is imperative to bring the Sti over, because alot of us would be very happy because of it and alot of us would sell everything we have on order to get one.

thats true... I would sell almost everything I own... :D we should all send an e-mail, as long as we space it out over a while so it doesn't look like a conspiracy! so every 3 months or so, everyone send SOA a letter... ;)

Why not just create an online petition like everything else and send that to them. :D

we have to make suabru work more. if we all sent emails demanding the sti they will have to read each and every 8051 i club members letter. instead of them reading one long list of names like a pitition. this way the effect will be greater. maybe they will get so fed up with reading letters and just decide to bring it?:)

Anyone got the e-mail address? I'll send a letter every month. Im' sure there are a few others willing to waste 5 minutes at work every month to send e-mail to SOA ;)

Heh, John Mergen used to answer all of these e-mails about the WRX.

I wonder if we all wore him out and he had to go into retirement after they finally released the WRX.
