Hi all
I know u guys don't like Honda but my integra is only my weekday car for work and I drive my WRX for weekend. I have just changed Mobil 1 oil and filter, changed spark plug and also did the injection cleaning on my 2nd car Integra...When I got home there's little smokey smell and also when I picked up the engine dip to check the oil, there's smoke coming up...So I do not know what to do and they(the service people) says it's normal??? This is my 2nd day after the service and it would be really helpful if you guys have any insight...
Thank you for reading

smoke out of the dipstick hole, eh? hmm.

so what did the dipstick read? were you low on oil, or whatever they've filled your car with?

Hmmm...it's possible the O-ring on the oil filter could have been stripped from over tightening or the old O-ring from the previous oil filter was left on (I did this myself, big mistake, never change oil when it's getting dark! I didn't see the old O-ring!) and the filter could be dripping oil on to the exhaust.

i have an integra as well, and based on my own experiences I would suggest that if the smoke you're getting smells like burning oil, it could be for one of the following reasons.

1. there is usually some small amounts of oil spilled on the block & exhaust when the filter is changed due to the location of the filter. this usually all burns off within 1-2 days of driving.

2. when they changed the filter, the rubber gasket from the old one stuck to the block & they put the new one on top of it so now you have an oil leak around the filter seal (i did this once myself. duh..)

3. when they refilled the oil they slopped oil down the side of your engine and depending on where it is, it may be slowly dripping onto your exhaust. this takes longer to burn off, but eventually will (3-4 days).

My suggestion: drive it for the next few days, if it still smells after a few days of driving, take it back and get them to look for possible leaks. check your oil frequently though to make sure you don't have a serious leak.

First, check the oil level to see if it has enough oil.

If there is enough oil, you're ok.

Like others said, smoke is probably from spilled oil, or leaky oil filter caused by oil gasket being stuck or loose oil filter etc etc.

The smoke is white, right? I would just let that burn off as long as there is enough oil in the engine, and oil level is not going down. Also, check for any oil puddles on the ground under the engine in the morning before going to work/school.
