View Full Version : Two Subies in the Garage!

First, let me say that my wife didn't even want to look at Subarus. She thought they were all ugly until she drove a VDC wagon 2 months ago, then she said she'd look at them.

The lease on my wife's car is up in September and we decided to start looking yesterday. She wanted an SUV type thingie, and we ended up looking at a few cars, Chevy Trailblazer, the Montero Sport, The Outback VDC/Limited H4, and the Forester S Premium.

She drove the chevy and mitsu first, and 'liked' them. We could have driven her current Chevy Metro into the back of the Montero and driven away without problems.

Next to the Subie dealer I got my RS from in 2000. Same sales guy, he let us drive 2 outbacks and the forester. We got pricing on all of them, and he was ready to cut us a killer deal on the VDC wagon. I didn't like driving it, but hey, it's her car. They payments on the VDC would have been $100/month more than the forester and $50 more than the Limited Outback H4.

After 3 hours, 7 test drives, there's a 2002 Forester S Premium in my Garage today! I love the thing too! The moonroof is half the length of the car! Anyway, it rocks, and now I can buy 8 oil filters at a time for changes instead of just 4!

She loves the thing too!

Congrats! I am also a member of a 2 Scooby household. I have a '02 RS 5MT and my wife has a '01 Legacy GT LTD 5MT. When the sales guy first asked my wife if she'd like to look at a Legacy, she was thinking that all Legacies were Outbacks (not that there's anything wrong with Outbacks) and she didn't want to look at it. I convinced her to have a look and she fell in love with the car. It's quite a change from her (unsafe at any speed) Chevy Tracker!

My husband brought home a GT wagon about a year ago. I was "he h3ll you getting a Brady wagon for?"

Anyway, at the time I thought all Subaru's were ugly nasty creatures of the street. Then when I went to get a car I did all these comparisons with the cars I wanted at the time to the Subaru line. Guess who came out on top?

I test drove a GT sedan and an RS Coupe.

Lets just say "FLICK FACTOR"

So now I drive MY00 RS. I still can't believe I am driving this thing with a hood scoop and annoying wing, but DAMN can the car GO. :D

I bought a MY00 RS last year, and I convinced my sister to pick up a MY02 OBS last month. Shes ecstatic! She wanted a CRV or a RAV4 (bleh) but the OBS is way cheaper (for same equipment)and better IMO. WE RULE!:D

I told Kass (my wife) that I would get her whatever car she wanted. She was a big Honda fan, but after seeing my impreza play in the snow, she agreed that perhaps we should get another subie for her. :D So I have a 01 legacy sedan in the garage next to my impreza. Nothing but subies from here on out :)

damn I've had subies for as long as I remember. My dad had an 85 GL (tan) great car... loved the two gear boxes, too bad I was too young to drive it.. before it got ripped off. Later got an 88 GL-10 turbo wagon (blue) followed again by a 90 legacy. I strayed from the family by getting a Nissan 240sx... after I maxed it out.. it blew up :( oh well thats what i get for not getting a subaru. the 88 GL-10 has over a 130K on it iand its still ticking.. only thing that got chaged was timing pulleys, radiator, and exhaust headers. He loves his 90 legacy... only has 70 K on the damn thing too.

funny how I had to beg and pleade to get my RS though.. hmm

I have 2 Subies at home as well, I drive a 02 TS Wagon, and my mom drives the previous model wagon. Also I used to drive a 99 RS, but like the new style, so trade for the TS.

Good choice on the Forester S/prem over the Outback Ltd. I'll never understand why people will pay so much more for an Outback instead of just getting the Forester, which has slightly better ground clearance and better approach/depart angles.

IMHO, the Legacy's (std and GT) are still a good deal though.....

I also have 2 subies :D
