i heard from a buddy that subaru is recalling the clutch in 2004 wrx models. does anyone know if this is true?

that would cost subaru not only a ridiculous amount of money but also their reputation

However, there WAS a TSB regarding the clutch "judder" issue on '02 and '03 models where the solution was to replace the clutch. BTDT, I'm a happy shifter now. :)

But thats 02 and 03. We are talking about 04s... Im not sure but IF 04 recalls for clutch, it would affect all models since they use the same clutch... I think its not gonna happen. Its like telling people "hey buy this now and come back 1 month later for recalls".

Recalls generally don't happen over non-safety issues. While it is possible that they issued a TSB on it, that's not the same thing as a recall.

thanks for the info. just was curious since my throwout bearing is making horrible winding noise on cold starts. 15k miles and on the 3rd rebuilt transmission :-(
