View Full Version : Poll: State with the greatest Subie count

SubieKidTK

My vote goes to Colorado. I was just there the past two weeks and I have never seen so many subies in my life. Maybe I am living a subie-sheltered life in southern california where a Subaru is a true rarity. Who knows. Point is, Colorado is taking the cake as far as I am concerned.

I think Louisiana may be in the running for the fewest number (probably tied with mississippi and alabama). I have only seen one other WRX in the state. At most, there are probably 80-100 Subarus in the entire state

Boy I'm sorry but it has to be up here in AK, If you count all Subarus and not just the new ones. If not the highest, it would have to be the most per capa.

Heck yeah, WV and PA. They out number the Honduhs. The Subaru to Honda ratio is reverse of what it is here. Here all you see is Honda. I was out in N. WV around Morgantown and in Grafton, WV. There only a hand full of Hondas that I saw.
Subaru Heaven. I got all sorts of cool looks, like they never seen a car like mine.

Naw, can't be PA. There are a lot here but still far more Hondas. Must be Colorado or Washington. Per capita those two as well as Alaska, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine have to be up there.

Southern coastal states have to be the lowest though I used to see a lot in north Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee when I was in college. Kayakers and AT hikers mostly.

I dunno, I just got back from Dunkin Donuts where I parked between an Outback and a Forester. There were at least 2 others in the parking lot, and I was behind an outback on the way there. Hell, I even see XT-6's and older Subies on almost a daily basis...

Per Capita, my vote would have to be either New Hampster or Rhode Island.

Who's got the most? Pick a large populated state where it snows. It would be one of them.

Colorado by far, there is no way anybody has more. Heck I bet if we wrote to SOA about this we could even get an answer!

I once saw this on a bathroom stall here...

"Screw you and the Subaru you rode in on!"

Cheers!

MA or NH, us New Englanders LOVE our subies! There used to be alot of brats out on the beach back in the 80s. All the salt air made them rust away though...............

Well I don't know how many subies that we have hear, but I do know that the Subaru dealership here sells more cars per captia than any other subie dealer.. :) I guess it is the good name..

I'm going to have to vote for MA/NH/ME area as well, unless you are talking about BRAT's. I've been looking for one for quite awhile, and every damn one of them is in the Pacific Northwest! :(

Brian and his obsession with Brat's... ;)

I'm leaning towards ME, I see almost as many scoobies as I do Hondas... all Outbacks and older Impreza wagons, but there sure are a lot of them.

The Pacific NorthWest states are probably right up there with Colorado. I know that within three blocks of my Subaru here at home (Portland, OR), there are at least 7 other Subarus, including old GL wagons, a Legacy GT, and a nice black SVX. And when you are on a road just about anywhere, you would be hard pressed to look around and NOT see a Subaru. I don't go up to Washington very much, but when I do, it's the same thing. Perfect cars for all the rain we get here, and when it does snow here, it's maybe 6-9 inches at the most, which the Subie can handle just fine, too.

On my trip through the mountains of Va,W Va. Maryland, and Pa I counted well over 500 Subarus. Only 1 RS, about 5 L's, and NO WRX's.

Around here all I see is Outbacks and big sport utes

Pa has got to be in the top 3 for amount of subarus

In my area there were very few (i live where people only drive pick up trucks and beat up Ford Crown Victorias) but the amount of subarus has taken a grand leap all though there is only 1 or 2 rs's in my area and maybe 5 WRX's there are loads of Legacy Outbacks and Foresters are Growing.

In all seriousness, Applachia (that general area where the mountains are) has plenty of Subarus. But the place with the most? I'd have to say within 5 miles of Dale Teague's shop. Seriously. Every other car you see in Marshall is a Legacy...the rest are pickups. :)

SixGirl

Definitely NY state.

We've got the largest Subaru dealer in the country here in Rochester. Every other car I see is a Forester or Outback. It's the weather. Lake effect snow + AWD = Way good thing. The only thing I think that out does the Subie count is the neon count! Augh..

with the exception of Bellevue (lexuses, beemers), Issaquah (minivans, SUVs) and Kent (novas, camaros), my vote is for Washington State! ;)

Colorado baby! We've probably got more old subarus on the road mixed with new subarus than anybody. None of our cars really rust away, here. Old brats are pretty common, and old Loyale/Legacy wagons are EVERYWHERE! L sedans almost out-number the honda civics. <scrappydoo> subee-power! </scrappydoo> G

We have a pretty nice number of Subies in Wisconsin, here too der eh?

I'm sure because AWD is awesome in snow!

I work at a company of about 200-300 people and I see about 4-5 subies in the parking lot. Mostly outback wagons... they are definately the most popular here. I have only seen 2 other Impreza L's - and both were 4 doors. The subie dealer I bought my 1995 L coupe from had only Forresters and TONS of Wagons stocked. Mine was the only 2 door on the lot!

So far my coupe is a one of a kind here!

Park City Utah and Salt Lake have a ton but mostly newer I would say in Park City the ratio is about 2:1 It's amazing I live in Salt lake and I like going up to Park City just so I can be with Subarus

North Ursalia-There are plenty of brats here, they have all just been reduced to little, flakey piles of rust that would fit in your shirt pocket by the weather! I was told by a saleperson that NE is the highest selling area in the country, it certainly sounds legit!

Okay, after my survey of the states with the fewest Subaru dealers, see:

O.K. Which state has the fewest Subarus? (http://i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69307)

I've looked at states with the most per capita:

1. VT - 6 dealers/600,000 (1/100,000)
2. NH - 11 dealers/1.2Mil (1/110,000)
3. MT - 7 dealers/880,000 (1/125,000)
4. AK - 4 dealers/620,000 (1/150,000)
5. ID - 7 dealers/1.25 Mil (1/180,000)

Since AK, ID and MT are much bigger states landwise than NH and VT, these two New England states probably also have the most densely populated Subie dealerships too. Even though this has nothing to do with Subaru sales or No. of vehicles on the road, I'd say you're most likely to see a Subaru there.
