FinallY got my car back all done. Full v7 ecu and engine swap. the car runs great and i filled up on 100 octane until i remap my ecu. for 93 octane . Is it safe to run on 93 octane with. out detonation. I am sending my ecu to kingpin for a remap. How do i tell if the Avcs is working.? The car pulls very strong and boosts at 18-19psi which i thing is a little high. My a/f gauge shows the car is runnin reach during full boost. which is safe as long my motor doesnt blowup like my wrx motor twice. Hopefully this will be a relaible daily driver and fun swap. Any help would be appreciated above the above questions. Thanks guys i will post pics of the Swap. And i also have all my old wrx parts for sale from the vishnu stage 2 kit. And parts of the motor. Anyone interested? Greddy profec B spec 2, Sti injectors, vf 30 turbo, wrx stock intake manifold, samco intercooler hoses, stock wrx intercooler & turbo, and many other stck wrx parts.

You might want to post your parts over in the Private FS classifieds, they get a good bit more traffic than the conversions forum.

Otherwise, glad to hear that another swap has gone well. That boost level does seem a little high... is that a spike, or is it getting sustained 18-19psi?

It stays pretty constant throughout the gear on full throttle at 18psi, but tapers to 14psi towards 6800 rpm

I don't want to tell you something then have it blow up on both of us, but so long as you keep out of the boost (and try to stay off of hills), you're safe running 93 octane. Is it higher or lower compression, though?

So long as you're below boost, it's an NA car (obviously.)

I ran 93 octane on mine till i got a utec and tune, but I only ran it on wastegate boost, ~11psi on my vf22.

I ran 93 in mine for about a week and a half before getting it tuned but I barely let it get in to boost just to be careful.

Shouldn't the ecu have enough control to where it would be ok to drive into boost lightly?

i'm sure the ECU will pull timing if the motor starts to knock. so 93 octane is good. maybe a mix of 93 and 100 would be optimal.

I find it amazing that the Octane rating is such a big deal Regular is about 92~93 in Japan. Now High Octane is a different story running about a 96~100 rating. Is there a difference between Japanese 93 Octane and American 93 Octane???

100 RON = 96.4 octane (PON)

I have been running mine on 92-93 for over 6 months--stock unflashed ECU. Started to get some knock, but put an alcohol injection system on it and it runs perfectly. BTW, 18.5 psi is stock for the version 7 ECU to run.
