View Full Version : ok to have new flywheel with stock clutch? Unabomber 01-02-2005, 12:57 AM From what little I know you are OK. The "rule" I heard was: New clutch = flywheel resufacing New flywheel = drive easy to "bed the clutch in" just like brakes After 500 miles or so, you should be fine. So unless anyone else chimes in, I think you should be fine. David Medina 01-02-2005, 01:18 AM you wouldnt happen to have a clutch/flywheel FAQ page would you? Charlie-III 01-02-2005, 06:28 AM I had to reread a few times due to your double negative. I agree with Unabomber, you can just do the flywheel but give the disc a chance to bed in. How many miles on the original? If you have 40-50K, maybe just replace it all and save the stock clutch for a "spare". It would suck to have it apart without doing the whole job and then have the clutch wear out/fail in 6 months.
