The OEM battery on my '00 RS(71K miles) is about to finally crap out. I don't have any mods that necessitate heavy power requirements. I have heard that the walmart brand is decent, but if there are other brands that would suffice with what my needs are i would appreciate any tips. Oh, and i live in TX so no concern for starting up in cold weather, etc.

You get what you pay for, Ive used wally world stuff to get something going to sell but if you want trouble free operation for 5 yrs or more, try a gel cell.

I've been running an Interstate battery for a few years now with no problems.

Pep Boys carries the Energizer brand. Anyone have any exp with Energizer car batteries?
The mid level one was $80 with 2 year replacement and 84 month prorated replacement and 3 year free jump start.

I went to the Interstate store and they only offer 18 month free replacement warranty on their $75 battery. The minimun i have seen is 24 months.

My OEM '00 RS battery had a real hard time starting at 7* a couple weeks ago and finally died on me yesterday at 66k miles. I'll probably be going to BJ's (like costco) because they usually have the best deals, and I'll let you know what I end up with.

Update: Well I went to BJ's and picked up the last battery they had, it was an Exide with 570 CCA, 730 CA, and a 72mo rating. Not bad, but I would have made do with it had I not had to stop at Pep Boys anyways. There I ended up buying an Energizer with 640 CCA, 800 CA, and an 84mo rating ($70). The Energizer also had a free 2 year replacement warranty. Not that much of a difference in numbers, and it was ~$20 more than the Exide, but I plan on having my car for a long time so I went with the Energizer. It seems to be working great and even my lights appear a little brighter. Although they still dim a little when I crank my amp and the subs hit... :alien:
