I have a Chilton with a full wiring diagram from the 90-94 2.2 Legacy but when I was identifying some of the wires from the plugs that go into the ECU I noticed that there are a couple of wires that are the right colors but there are in different locations i.e. i'll have 3 wires that need to be identified and among the 3 wires in the diagram and in the pin outs all three colors are there but they are mixed up between the 3 pin outs. in other words I have pin outs d5 is suppose to be blk/wht, d6 is suppose to be wht, and d12 is suppose to be blk. But d5 is blk, b6 is blk/wht, and d12 is wht. How can I figure out which reference is right. Should I go by color or location?

how do your diagrams compare to these?

What are you wiring in?
And Subaru changed wire colors from year to year without changing pin locations. Unless you have an FSM with the exact year of your car, you are going to see discrepancies on a Chiltons guide as their colors are often based on a single year...
though I shouldn't help you since you blew me off and never even had the courtesy to tell me you weren't gonna buy my heads...;)

sorry matt, I'm wiring in an ej22 into an EA dual range tranny in an '86 carbuerated EA82. I have the wires coming from the ECU all marked according to the chilton I have (with the 3 exceptions), but you guys are saying, trust the location more than the color?
And no, my wiring diagrams don't look anything like that. They are more of a physical lay out of where the wires go with a key on the pics to signify what they go to. I didn't take a long look at the URL's so I don't know if they are the same by the means of what they say goes where so I will check that out and compare them to the chilton.

The Chiltons diagrams aren't the most accurate. I second the idea of trusting a FSM diagram over Chiltons.

I don’t even think the tech Subaru documents are 100% accurate. I’ve found a number of minor errors with these docs, mostly related to connector pins incorrectly referenced. Although I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered an actual color difference which could really throw you off.
