1998 2.5 RS.....has a freakishly strong bumper.

In the last 2 years (since I don't have any money to mod my subie), I've driven my impreza to hell and back.

Broken rims, completely blown off tires...etc.

My bumper though has taken the most....so far I have:

1. Hit a frozen tree (6 inch diameter), which then snapped and fell over (I then high centered on it and had to be dragged off)
2. Rear ended a Maxima (which crushed the crap outa his car ~20 mph)
3. and finally, hit a curb doin cookies on ice in Sunriver, OR

Yet, here it is...slightly crooked, but with barely any impact marks. Amazing.

Heh I hit a ditch at about 30-35 mph going around a 90 degree bend, car went straight into a field. Slighty bent but looked fine, unlike the splintered strut...

My WRX bumper sucks. Here in Philly, people seem to know how to parallel park, or care about their car(s). When I visit my cousins in New York City, my car's bumpers come back with war wounds. Either the people in New York (Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn) can't park, or don't care. :furious: Now I take public transit.

Yeah...my buddy (who's on this forum) lives in Seattle with a MY02 WRX.
I was in his car once when he was parralel parking and to get in the space...he slowly pushed the car in front of him and nudged the car behind him (on purpose). I was like F&*$!! It was brand new at the time...crazy parkers suck.

I've backed into a car parallel parking.
Hit a couch (long story).
And I had an accident where I backed into the side of a '92 Plymouth something. Her car was more than totaled and I'm just missing paint.

They don't give Scoobies high crash test ratings for nothin'! :disco:

i hit a volvo in a parking lot, snow on the ground, i wasn't aware of the RE-92's snow performance(lack thereof).

their bumper was fine, my paint was smeared like a sunday morning bagel.

i backed into a 4"x4" wood post in a bucket that was a parking bouy kind of thing... scraped my paint but hardly noticable unless you know where to look.

i dropped my springs out of the trunk once before they were installed... that left two nice little gashes in the paint.

by far the worst is the piece of lumber i hit at highway speeds... cracked my stock bumper(the reason i bought WHITERABBITS during his part out), bent my front rim, and scuffed up my passenger side sill/door. don't know how/when to fix it.

i wouldn't call the bumpers all that resilient to accidents. the paint will chip at the drop of a hat(literally) and the urathane is far from indestructable.

they hold up better than fiberglass, however.

While traveling at eighty down a class 4 two morning doves were fornicating in the middle of the road. I thought I saw two rolling in the dirt in the rear view after passing over them. Turns out it was only one the other was lodged in the center induction of my bumper (this was pointed out to me several days later).
Moral of the story: Do it in the ditch
