Well, I was just on a dsm chat, to see if anyone wanted to buy my car, and... I got flamed like crazy. I'm glad that you guys (and girls!) are so much cooler, and more civil. All that I came away from is that I could get fired up easily by going there.

Also, those guys seem to think that you could get a 1st gen dsm into the 12's w/ $1000 in mods, 25psi, and race gas. Can anyone provide testament to this? I said, "go ahead, I'll see your engine in pieces." I know those cars can be modded pretty inexpensively, but 12's? Whatever, I won't be going there anymore, and I'm glad that I'm part of the subie family!

BTW, anyone wanna buy a '91 GSX? :D :D :D

Yes, you can make 1G DSM's into 12s very easialy. $1000 and DIY mods and you are set.

And, do not disrespect DSMs here. I had one and I like them. Those 4G63 motors are amazing.

Umm yah I saw that post on DSM Talk. From what I read it seemed like you had worked things out. So why you bothering to do this? Anyways there are alot of 4G63 motor fans. They are right about it being easy to make a 4G63 motor fast. The problem is holding the tranny together but that can be said for any car including the WRX.

I used to own a 12 second DSM and yes, they can be in the 12's for that kind of money along with a lot of your own time. The 2L 4G63 that is in those cars are powerhouses when modded. The DSM guys have earned their respect by building extremely fast cars. You can say they have a lot of problems, but most cars do when you start making serious power over stock.

A DSM on a stock turbo and motor recently ran a 12.9 at Bandimere Speedway (6000ft above sea level). So yes it is very possible to run 12's inexpensively. The 4G63 is practically bullet proof and can take a hell of a lot of abuse before going south.

I enjoy the Scooby crowd because we are not "straight line" minded. None of the gang down here drags their Scoob on the street. We all go autocrossing. It's all about the turns, so there's not many bragging rights.

Ok, believe me, I'm not dissing the cars. I have one currently and I love it, I'm just trying to sell it cus I need the money. I used to work on mitsu's and that's what encouraged me to buy one. All I'm saying is that I like you guys better, and that I got flamed by these immature dsm guys for practically nothing. That is not to say that I didn't enjoy the heated conversation that I had, I did enjoy it. I wrote that post after my flaming and I was still "fired up". I probably shouldn't have said certain things, but I still stand by the fact that I like the subie crowd better.

Ok, I believe you; you can get a dsm into the 12's for $1000. Ok, ok, I just never did it w/ my car. Then again, I never pumped mine up to 25 psi and ran 118 octane, either. At the same time I could also gut the car completely, remove the rear wheel drive portion, and pump it up to 30 psi and run very low 12's. But will that be streetable? Anyone can run fast at the track, I'm looking for something streetable and fast off the track. That same dsm will not pull 12's w/o said boost and fuel. If you wanted to run 118 octane and 25 psi on the street, that engine would not last very long. Though those engines are practically buttetproof. Mine has 125,000 miles and still pulls hard.

Again, I meant no disrespect, I love dsm's too. All I wanted to do was give "props" to everyone here.

Thank you,

Erik
