Hey all
Well my problem is this. While my wife and I were on a trip her mom decided to help and clean her car. Its a 1999 Outback Sport. Well she left the door open all week which ran down the battery. We jumped the car and ran it for awhile and all was fine except one thing. Her parking lights now blink on and off about five times. Stop for about 30 seconds and then repeats. It even does it without the key in the ignition. Has anyone else experienced this? Any help you could give would be great, thanks.

Mike

Any security system or keyless entry installed on the car? Is this blinking consistent? As in does it blink every fixed seconds apart? Or, does it blink randomly?

Yup it does have the Subaru keyless entry system. It also is not working ever since the battery going dead. Does this need to be reset? It is a fixed blink. Thanks for the help.

I would assume that the keyless entry went out of whack. Why don't you disconnect the battery for 10-20 minutes, reconnect and see what happens? Or, have you done that already?

The worst scenerio is that electirical sparks from the jump start caused the keyless entry computer to fry. Since the keyless entry does not work, this may have happened.

Yeah I disconnected the battery last night and reconnected it today when I got up and it is still the same. Is there a way with the remote to reset the keyless entry that anyone knows of? Ill check the manual and see if it says. Thanks for the help.

There might be a button under the dash. Try that. Try locking and unlocking the car with the remote. Often when you have a subaru keyless system there will be a sticker under the hood somewhere mentioning something about the system.

Purely guessing here:

Maybe this is the signal from the car that the keyless entry has no fobs assigned to it? In the manual there should be instructions for adding a new fob to the system. Try and add your fob and see if there is still a problem...?

One more though... this happened to me after my last ECU reset, and I couldn't figure out why my remote wouldn't work. It turned out the remote's battery was dead. If you've got the spare handy, I suggest giving that a try.
