Hey everyone!!! Well I am a VERY proud owner of a 2004 WRX. I just got it today and I had a question concerning the turbo and it cooling off. Ive heard before that turbocharged engines usually require a turbo timer to allow the turbo to cool off properly without any damage. Now this is 2005 and Im hoping by now Subaru and other car manufactures have configured this cooling problem into the cars computer. Am I correct? Does the car's onboard computer control the cooling of the turbo so that it doesnt get damaged or am I going to have to buy a aftermarket turbo timer? The car is currently stock and I dont plan on any major additions to the engine (just exhuast, intake, headers, up pipe-maybe-). Id appreciate any and all comments and input.

i've read before, that if it is the stock turbo, an if is driven under normal conditions you do not need one. Maybe if you had a lot of track time and a bigger turbo you could use one. Some even with a lot of mods still don't have one.

I have a stock turbo and I was worried about getting a timer too, but I figure if I run the car hard then need to stop and go somewhere I would make myself sit for a minute or 2. But under normal driving conditions you don't really need the timer, that's why Subaru didn't give us one!

BTW we are water cooled!

yea i figured since Subaru doesnt give us one, under normal use, one wouldnt be needed. Thanks guyz. Ill probably end up adding one later on the safe side. But for now NO WORRIES!!!!!
