Well I've got an STi motor in the mail, and I was wondering if the throttle body from my '98 RS would bolt up to the STi manifold? The standalone I have won't run the drive by wire. Just wondering if I need to order a WRX TB or if the one I have will bolt up.

I'm having a custom hydra made. It SHOULD just plug straight into my '98 ECU connector and I SHOULD just have to run a few more wires for the AVCS. I want to avoid the drive by wire because a) I'm old fashioned and just don't trust it b) Don't quite like the response time. After looking at a picture of one of my friends WRX TB and looking at my TB I'm like 90% sure it will bolt up... just wondering if anybody has definative proof of this.

bolt up ... mmmm yeah so but i think the DBW throttle is bigger (longer?) the intercooler may not line up

so, the 2.2 meltdown pushed you to the sti engine eh?

oh yeah, the 98 rs motor was the phase 1 while your V8 motor is a phase 2. i dont know about the throttle body if its different or not, but a V6 or 7 would definatly work (i think the 7 is cable)

A RS or WRX throttlebody will not bolt to a DBW manifold. I have tried my 99 RS throttle on my DBW manifold and it doesnt work. The bolt holes are slightly different and the is no cutout for the IACV. WRX and RS TBs are interchangable but the RS throttle cable kinda hits the WRX manifold. The solution is a WRX TB and upper intake manifold.
