Well I'm not in the SF area but in Sac and I go to Maita Subaru. Great service Dept, and I know my car is in good hands.

I've had good experience with Albany Subaru's service department for almost 10 years now for regular service, TSB recalls, and warranty covered repairs. The only other one I've been to is Carlsen's. Afaik, the prices at Albany's are more favorable, and they open until midnight on weekdays.

I'm taking mine into S.F. Auto Works tomorrow. Its in the Mission district on Valencia. They specialize in Subarus, and from speaking with them on the phone, they really sound like they know what they are talking about.

I only need a few maintenance things done (break fluid, transmission fluid, etc...). But I'll let you know how it goes.

I have to agree about Albany Subaru. They have always been fair and timely. The long hours also make it easier on my schedule.

S.F. Auto Works couldn't get any of the fluids I requested (Red Line mostly). But when I went in there, they have more WRX and STI posters than I've ever seen in a shop. Plus they were really nice people. So I ordered the fluids online and will take the car back in when I receive them. So far, mixed feelings about the place though.

As for a place like Lic, you probably wouldn't take a car there for routine maintenance, would you? Looks like its more for mods and such, from their website. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I took my car in yesterday. They got it done quick, and charged me less than they quoted me. Plus they tightened my e-break, which I hadn't even realized was loose. Two thumbs up for this place.

lic does do regular maintenance work also. And they do it for cheaper then a dealership most if not all the time
