View Full Version : What is involved in turboing an RS? attitude 01-10-2005, 04:56 PM i have a friend who just got a 2001 rs, and wants to use the stuff i take off the STi. what will work, or what all is needed for this? Ireneusz 01-10-2005, 05:06 PM Hey I had 2001 turbo rs and right now i did swap on to it and i think it might be cheaper to do swap than making your rs NA motor turbo. Besides on stock 2.5 rs engine you can't boost more than 9psi safely unless you spend some $$ on engine. I think that swaping either wrx or any EJ turo motor will be more relible than installing turbo on your rs.It all depend how much you want to put in your rs Na motor. Thats just my opinion. Ireneusz 01-10-2005, 05:09 PM If you want you can check out the link: http://www.forcedairtech.com/stage3.html These are the parts to get if you still want turbo RS See ya ;) attitude 01-10-2005, 05:38 PM thanks Siper2 01-10-2005, 08:24 PM And definitely check around here, www.RS25.com, www.i-club.com and the other forums. Turbo-ing the RS is a black art, it seems. Very low success rate, at least with decent boost levels. Otherwise, without swapping the block out or having yours shot-peened, it seems to be trouble in the making. Most say a total engine swap for a WRX or EDM/JDM/USDM STi powerplant is much simpler (wiring notwithstanding), and generally less expensive than "bulletproofing" yours. |
