I'm planning on buying a 2.5rs here in 6 months to a year, I'll have about $8500 saved, should I get a 98-01 Impreza or use the money on a good down payment for a WRX? Also, what are the differences between the '02 WRX (bug eyes) and the '04 (diff headlights)? Any power differences? I'd like to have the car paid off, but would it be worth it to use the money as a down payment on a newer year/body? And, just to let you know, I'm 17, and i'd like something to work on/ play with.

thnx, Justin...

Yes, the new ones weigh right at 150lbs more.

I'd save a bit more, wait til summer and buy a used 2002/2003 WRX. They'll be plentiful and cheap! :)

I'm just wondering if it would be a bad decision to buy a 98-01 when i could buy a new car instead.

I'd go with the older RS. That way, instead of making payments, you can be modding/swapping.

get a loan anyway, say, half the price, that way you can build credit (and spend the other half on a swap  )

have fun with the ins with a wrx. you better bend over.

that is true, insurance will be tougher on a wrx.
with an rs, you don't have to worry about debt, if you get screwed over, or someone screws you over, if you have already paid for your car, noone can take it from you.

It's a nice secure feeling to completely own your own transportation.

i got an insurence quote for a wrx and the preium was 3000. Thats why I went with the older body style....Plus it's the hottness
