I just installed my boost and egt gauges set in the autometer dual bezel. It looks perfect, that color changing box is pretty nice. Looks very stock! I had a stock boost gauge so I just used the existing wires for my boost gauge. I tapped the egt into to clock for power and the radio for light. At first when I dimmed the lights the gauges were backwards. One would dim and one would light up. So I spliced into the other wire and the egt dosent dim anymore, it just stays lit. Good enough for me, if anyone knows how to get both to dim that would be helpful.

You can't get both to dim without assembling a special circuit. The mechanical boost gauges works because ... well ... it's mechanical so the power/ground are just for the light. The electric EGT won't work because the ground is used for both the lighting and the electronic gauge. Thus, if you go to dim your gauges you will end up cutting power to the EGT.

I have the mechanical boost on the column and the electrical EGT, Oil Pressure, and Oil Temp in an OEM pod. The boost gauge dims. The other three do not. However, scoobymods has a mod on how to make the other 3 dim. I didn't care about it so I didn't assemble that special circuit.

BTW, you don't 'need' the color control boxes if you don't want them. I didn't want the bulk of the color control boxes so I removed them and used the provided resistor (but swapping pins) to provide full red color on the guages. I grabbed power from the rear windshield washer fuse (because US models don't use it but is there), ground from the side of the radio where that big ground plugs in, and lighting from the stock special 2-wire that is specifically for lighting.

My Omori EGT Gauge didn't come w/ instructions, & my vendor isn't helping, so can one of you fill me in on any tips for installing? I figured out what wire connects where (thanks to NASIOC) & found white is illumination +, both blacks are negative, red is switched +, & brown is output. Since the illumination ground isn't really an illumination ground on the Omori gauges, does it need to be connected to the illumination negative, or can it just be grounded to a good piece of metal like the regular ground? Also, you mentioned the resistor - what is this for?

red = switched power
black + black = hook together and ground to the side of the radio (undo one of the 4 bolts on the side of the radio where the big black ground connects; passenger side of radio).
brown = ignore
white = plug into lighting harness that the stock boost gauge plugs into. Just crimp a spade connector onto the plug and plug it into the stock lighting harness.

The problem is that the Subaru dimming circuit controls the negative side rather than the positive, and the Omori electrical gauges have only the single ground from the gauge so you can't separate the lighting circuit from the gauge circuit. In order for the gauges to dim with the dash illumination, you need an external circuit that flips the illumination polarity for the gauge to fixed negative/variable positive.

vinithing - Hi we do have something that can will work as an inverter. Actually its more than an inverter its a couple of electrical components connected together and wrapped in some type of epoxy. We had it made for us and have been selling it in gauge packages to folks who have wanted to dim the gauges through the dimmer. Comes with complete instructions and more importantly it works.
