Hey I was wondering if its possible to split the signal from the stock egt sensor to both the ecu and a separate egt gauge. I searched and couldn't find anything on this topic. Does anyone have an idea how to do this or has done it?

The stock egt probe only serves to monitor proper uppipe cat. temps/function--no useful data there.

i was thinking about getting a helix flex up-pipe with a egt bung. I thought that by splitting the signal it would be easier than trying to drill a new hole somewhere and also be useful. Thanks for the info subaholic

For you question I would think yes since there are two wires for the stock EGT sensor and 2 for ones like the autometer EGT gauge. Now the thing is... and EGT gauge will not get a good (worth anything) reading from that location. What most people do is tap the header in the 3rd or 4th runner. There is a flat circle button on the driverside stock header which is perfect to tap. I have read nothing positive from using a EGT gague from the uppipe bung its too far from the block.

so running one in the DP would be too far as well then...

You want to run the EGT sensor ~2" from the heads.

You will have to have one taped, there is no getting around it if you want proper readings. Also if you are using an aftermarket uppipe without a cat you should bolt up that bung and get a resister for it. That will give your ECU proper feedback and you wont damage your stock EGT prob if you ever should need it.

Any aftermarket gauge would need to have its own sensor, even if you connected the factory probe directly to the gauge w/o the ECU connection it would not be accurate. The factory probe is a negative coefficient thermistor, most aftermarket gauges use thermocouples. The two types are not compatible. Also if you tried to connect a gauge across the existing probe, not only would the readings be inaccurate but the gauge would load the circuit down and cause the ECU to get inaccurate EGT readings as well.

Thanks mulder. Thats exactly what i wanted to know. I had a suspicion that splitting the signal would mess it up. Thanks! 2.2kohm resirtor mod for me when i get my up-pipe
