I'm looking to replace the lighting behind my HVAC and have found the guides very helpful and I can remove the bulbs, but now i don't know what to replace them with.

People have said they replaced them with LEDs, this seem to yield the best brightness results (at least for blue, which is what I want to switch to). But Radioshack and other electronic stores seem to only have "standard" LEDs shaped like:

======O

sorry for the crumby visual, there like these: http://www.radioshack.ca/estore/Category.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=RadioShack&category=LEDs&pagenum=2

Is this what I'm looking for? If so, how do I hook these up because they look nothing like the bulbs in the car.

I don't feel like ordering bulb condoms online, seem like a waste of money if the colour isnt even that good.

Anybody have any sugestions to get a good blue colour?

autoillumination.com has LEDs made to fit the bulbs. they're #24 i think. or #74. whichever is the bigger of the two.

that way you won't have to wire the wires into the bulb connections yourself.

and they're just about as expensive, if not cheaper.

thanks for the info, was wondering if anybody knew of any stores/type of store that would carry these? again, canada = overpriced shipping charges.

good luck, not many stores carry these items- they're too small. try an electronics specialty store.

What guides did you find for this?

The changing the interior colour stickies at the top, it's meant to change the radio and HVAC lights to red.

Do you know how to get the bulbs off?
