This steel-type, inverted-monotube type shock absorber is produced for specific vehicles with strut-type suspension. The shock absorber for this type of set up takes great abuse, thus side load attributes must be strengthened. An inverted monotube with a Friction-Loss Cylinder was developed for this matter. While using the Function Series' technology, we've produced the new Zeal model for high performance driving. The nitrogen gas camber is positioned higher up and farther away from the braking area creating less heat transfer and thus, less chance for overheating. Also, under-spring weight is now lighter enabling handling to become sharper, quicker, and more responsive. Our easy-to-read and use, 6-Way Piston Valve Shock (PVS) Dial mechanism adjusts the rebound/compression force with its Piston Valve Shock Technology, Level 1 being the softest and Level 6 being the stiffest. Dial can be turned either direction infinitely. Pillow Ball camber adjustable upper mounts for direct feel of suspension motion help to decrease piston rod tension. ID60 Basic Spring (Street or Hard rates) maintains stroke and ensures a "seated" fit with upper and lower portions processed to a flat cut. The Adjustable Shock-Stroke System is a separate, adjustable lower cup/bracket used for height adjustability which eliminates problem of sacrificing stroke and altering spring tension. Spin the mechanism over the threaded shock casing up to lower (and down to raise) vehicle height. All Zeal Function Series systems include this height-adjustable system.

RaceComp Engineering 01-13-2005, 07:11 PM Cusco heard your request, and have now answered with the all new Zero-2E system. With all the same benefits and features as the Zero-2 coilover, the Zero-2E adds the option to electronically control the shock adjustment from inside the car. Utilizing the E-Con (sold separately), you can select what stage (of 5) you want the shock set at. With great features such as:
- Electronically controlled shock adjustment (w/ E-Con)
- Pillowball upper mounts
- Adjustable shock casing
- Independent adjustable spring perch
- Stainless steel thread body
- Stainless steel case lock nut
- Stainless steel spring perch/lock nut
- Specially coated lower bracket
Performance!
Fits perfectly for any style driving. The advanced design features 5-stages of shock adjustment that exhibits incredible performance!
Comfort!
Create a comfortable ride for your passengers. Too stiff? Comfort is just a button away. No more frustrated passengers!
Strength!
Larger size pillowball used in the upper mounts. Endures through the hardest drives!
Setting!
Height adjustment and spring pre-load are designed to be adjusted independently. Lower your car with the adjustable shock casing while retaining the overall shock stroke. Set the spring pre-load to your desire and feel the difference in driving and traction.
Anit-Rust!
Worried about rust? No problem with the Zero-2E’s stainless steel lock nuts, lower seat, and threads. With the external cylinder and threads being stainless steel, adjusting the height will be smooth. The lower bracket/case has a new special coating as well. The internal as well as the external surface has been coated.
*be sure to always clean the threads prior to adjusting the height. Road debris and brake dust can settle on the threads causing difficulty in smooth adjustment.
New Shock Absorber!
Cusco developed a new shock absorber for the Zero-2E that further reduces friction resistance of the dampening force to achieve high performance with the vehicle lowered.
- New design: Side port rotary valve
- New: Reduced friction piston
- New oil reducing cavitation
- New material: Special steel for piston valve shim

http://www.napsusa.com/Nukabe/pictures/z2e_up.gif
E-Con
Memorizing!
- 6 preset memories available
- Only a push of a button needed to fit any style
Rebound Force Adjustment!
5 stage adjustment for the front and rear independently. Each shock is designed specifically for the vehicle application. (one by one adjustment operation)
Stylish Operation Panel!
With the operation panel thickness being a mere 30mm, installation and location options are increased. The compact control unit can easily be hidden away and out of sight.
http://www.napsusa.com/Nukabe/pictures/econ.jpg
Adjusment Moniter
The E-Con uses high quality adjustment motors to control the rebound force quickly and accurately. The motor utilizes a special rubber cover to shield itself from moisture caused from the extreme humidity and temperatures found in the engine bay. Installation is a cinch with the specially designed bracket on the Zero-2E coilovers.
Lighting Adjustment!
Brightness of the operation panel can be adjusted. (also can be turned off)
Sound Adjustment!
Confirmation sounds can be turned on or off.
Cusco Strut Bars!
Will fit with Cusco strut bars.

The E-Con kit includes:
• Rebound force controller x1
• Operation panel w/ wire harness set x1
• Main power wire/adjustment motor x4
• Wire for motor – 5m x2, 4m x2

BGPKR 01-19-2005, 10:32 PM Myles,
I've already installed the Pinks and Group N tops I've ordered from you as well as my Hotchkis Competition sway bars and Whiteline steering rack and rear diff bushings. How much of a difference will the rear lateral and trailing links make along with an ALK. I have a few more bucks to spend and want to make it count. I can't decide on suspension or power mods.
Thanks
Geoff

well I have an analogy that I want to use , but Its not very clean( :D )
Yes, those two items will make a huge difference in turn in and feel. The the trailing arms and lateral links will take alot of slop out of the rear of the car, while the ALK will give more caster and the combo would be felt right away. You also will need to be smoother too................. :)

I have had great success with all 3. If I were falling from a cliff and had to grab onto one..................ummmmmmm....I might grab the Cusco and at the same time, grab a Perrin endlink, with WHiteline heavy duty sway bar mounts.....

Godmal 02-18-2005, 11:47 PM I'd like to pick up the stage 1 suspension set-up. Do you have the parts in stock now?
dunny 02-20-2005, 04:22 PM Myles,
Need your recommendation on what to get. I've got full Group N bushings for the lateral and trailing links, STi aluminum arm kit with transverse links, and the 2004 WRX suspension (much more planted in the rear, plus superior high speed damping) with Group N tophats.
It's a big improvement over stock, but still too much reluctance on turn in and way too much body roll. Are front and rear swaybars the next logical step? I don't want a harsher ride (I had the V7 STi suspension on for a while, but found it too harsh around town to live with long term), or one that's fidgety or twitchy. I use the car just as a daily driver; I might auto-x it once or twice a year, but just for giggles.
I thought sway bars would be the best step, followed by maybe the ALK and then, eventually, Whiteline Group 4s.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
Dunny
P.S. could you pm (or just include in your post) a shipped price to Vancouver, BC V6K 2E9 on what you recommend, and if it is swaybars, on the Whitelines (and can you ship by USPS? That saves soooo much in brokerage fees over UPS and Fedex).

RaceComp Engineering 02-21-2005, 12:12 PM We are sold out of Pinks for the current shipment we just recieved. We are expecting our next container mid March (15th) time frame. WRX8XB 02-21-2005, 04:10 PM Myles,
for us wanting to buy springs in the next week or so, would you reccomend another set of springs? or are the STi Pinks so well suited that it is worth the wait? Thanks again for your help,
Drew
RaceComp Engineering 02-21-2005, 04:22 PM Well, I have sold alot of pinks to people who tried other brands, and most who can admit it, come back to the pinks and never look back. I drove a 2005 sti this past weekend with some " OTHER " brand springs and the guy who owns the car ask what I had and he drove my car and smiled when went over some big unsettling bumps, as his car is lowered 40mm, and looks SLAMMED !! He cringed when we hit the bumps as I never slowed down, and then he said,..." WOW"...that was nice. I then pitched it into a exit ramp to show that low isnt always better.
So yes its worth the wait. Its like that special girl you liked in high school, who you waited for , and it was worth it. All the other girls look like death now at 30 years old, and yours is da-bomb !!
( as I get older the analogies get worse and worse) :lol:
Myles

flycaster 02-25-2005, 01:08 PM Myles,
I've got an '04 STi with Pinks and GN top hats. I'm looking for new struts. Got any ideas, and costs to go along with them?
I know I can always go to a replacement set of the OEM struts (ughhh), but another poster has said that KYB makes a great performance strut for the '03WRX (an AGX, IIRC) that will bolt right up - it just needs a 5/8's spacing washer at the top mount to snug up properly. (Personally, I've always been a little leery of suspension parts that need tweaking for correct fitment. But, does that sound right to you?)
TIA

I can tell you that set up will be less desirable than stock. The valving leaves alot ot be desired.
I can only say that there will be a great alternative for a fixed perch standard spring accepting strut from a well known QUALITY manurfacture within 90 days. These new units will be on the level of the old P1 suspension from the GC8 STi version 6 I think it was. Firm and not bouncy.

we dont stock the 02-03 as they are'nt nearly as popular as the 04-05 sti pinks. Same real sTi brand from Japan , but most people with those year WRXs are taking a less (less effective) costly route. The emphasis tends to be on "how low can we go" versus having a suspension that works on a multitude of road surfaces. My hat goes off to the people who track down the version 7 suspension or who retrofit a version 8 set up on to a 02-03 wrx.

mnavarro 03-16-2005, 11:46 PM Hey are the AST coilover's available/shipping now. How do they compare to the Group4. I have group 4 now, but hit a curb and don't want to wait 3 weeks for a replacement what does 6/4 kg equate to (for instance g4 are 280 front/227 rear). If they are in the neigborhood we will get them asap. Will provide a good review compared to whiteline g4 if you give me a break. O yeah, I'm assuming they will work on a 04 sti?

The AST's are offered with a 7/5kg spring set up. The valving on the AST is more aggressive and matched to the spring rates.
The chart would look like this.
3kg=168
4=224
5=280
6=336
7=392
8=439
9=505
10=561
11=617
12=673
13=729
14=785
So I may run 12/14 on my ZEALS, but thats a standard rate in Japan for the track cars..........at that level Hoosiers need to see -3.5 camber front and 2.5 rear(-)

oh yea, are the STi Pink Trailing arms aluminuim? and will they fit a MY05 STi?
The trailing arms are steel. No one makes aluminum trailing arms due to the rigidity required because of it's integral part of the suspension system. Or in other words they need to be strong and aluminum doesn't cut it.
Yes they fit 05 STI.
WRX8XB 03-18-2005, 02:02 PM that is what i thought but i wanted to make sure. the aluminum lateral links are for an 05 STi too correct? and will these produce any noticeable handling difference?

thejackal0 04-28-2005, 01:50 PM Myles - I am currently running the pink springs and groupn mounts, front and rear cusco bars on an 04sti... Great setup, love it. Went to the track with my friend, who has an evo with cams and ohlins coils... his car is insane... what do you recommend for me now?!?!?! I don't want anymore power really (around 300whp), just NASTY handling... I see the zeals are a popular choice at the moment :D

Well, trying to compare your buddies EVO and your STi isnt fair. I think better tires, more camber and maybe a DP would help, and dont forget BRAKE PADS !! Main thing is keep getting more track time, as thats the largest factor here.
As for ZEALS,..yes they are great !! WE have alot of autocrossers and track goers who have these and have switched from JICs and TEIN and realize the HUGE difference in function between the brands. Not ALL Japanese brands are over sprung and underdamped. Contact me directly for more info and advise. myles@racecompengineering.com

Brad, we sell all Prodrive Performance parts that are available. We are a full Prodrive dealer. We are working on updating threads as well as our website.
So for your L, we can get you Prodrive P1 Springs (for 93-01 Impreza). Being as that you have a L we recommend doing at least a 2.5 RS strut with them as the L struts will not respond well to the P1 Springs. Realistically a KYB AGX, JDM v6, or similar strut would work better for maximum benefit. We would also recommend installing Group N Tops.
Jeff.
