wow, the front edge of the wing follows the shape of the nose cone, nobody's ever done that before, this might be a really sweet car

The nose of the BAR 007. Since the rules changed this year to reduce downforce by raising the base of the frint wings it looks like at least 2 teams have taken radical new ways of getting some of it back with inventive noses.

I will be forever fascinated with motorsports' attempt to even the field by trying to make cars slower.

most if not all of the cars have that...it's either to reduce the high prssure zone in front oof the nose cone by letting some air into the body..or to act as ventilation for the driver's body

Full pictures of the new BAR are out now, at least on Atlas F1. The middle of the front wing makes a significant dip towards the ground and seems to do a "scooping" thing. The rear engine cover looks huge to me.

It look very weird I guess used to how the F1 car of the last 3 or 4 years, wonder how out there the other cars will be??? and what is Ferrari is going to do?

Im hoping not too many will have to back track. I can only pray that Ferrari is having to come up with something special to re-coup some of the lost down force like BAR and Sauber are having to do. If they found some conservative way to keep a decent amount of downforce AND they are starting with last years car then we are all in for a long season again.

I found it! They have a secert weapon to beat Ferrari. Looks like they will use a Unmanned Arieal Vechicle to disable the red cars.

Anyway, what's the deal gonna be with Sauber and Ferrari this year? Same engine? Same gearbox? Any aero similarities?

Without having seen the new Ferrari it looks like there is now a clear split between Ferrari and Sauber. Peter voted for a testing ban in direct opposition to Ferrari and he switched from Bridgestone to Michelins. With that Ferrari told Sauber that Felipe Massa is no longer welcome to test with them. Sauber is now making their own gear box but still using Ferrari engines. I think that with in a year or two you'll see that change too. It seems Sauber is ready to go to the next level and they know that they can't if they are following in Ferrari's tracks rather then trying to innovate.

looks cool. most of the current evolutin seems to be in the haunches. and i'm not sure what that new rear element is gong to accomplish.

either way, it looks competative to me. even if it might be bar's last effort.

That's an intersting solution. I read an interview with an F1 designer saying there is infinite room for improvement in aerodynamics, which I think is true. Hopefully it won't backfire like the Williams last year. Honda BAR really seemed to be close last season - hopefully they will be that much more competitive this year. Although I don't see Ferrari losing its dominance anytime soon.
