If i were to blow my transmission in my 02 WRX and the dealership agrrd to replace it under warrenty, is there any possible way i could have them put in an STI tranny, and i cover the $ difference?

the sti tranny is more than just a swap, I doubt it. you might be able to get the ra's or the sti gears and have them put in instead of the factory gears, it'll be stronger and geared a little different and geared a lot different with the ra gears, but it'd still have to be a pretty cool dealer. and that's if they agree that all the gears need to be replaced, which usually doesn't happen. if you are after a 6 speed, i don't think it will work.(the warranty thing. i know the tranny could be put in, with a bunch of other required stuff) I could be wrong though.

i just had my tranny done; they gut it and fix it, they rarely (read: never) replace the whole thing.

No dealership will do that under warranty. SOA tracks every warranty claim,if anything is wrong the claim gets bounced, or in other words it comes out of the dealers pocket.
