What to look for in knock under hydra loggs?
What is knock ramp., and How should I read that. Or I should be more
concerned on knock ret. values.?
I think the ramp is the knock detection threshold, that is the amount of ping needed to count as a detonation event. I'd leave it alone. Phil has better listening devices than most, so he is in the best position to set that threshold. Generally you don't want to see knock detected, so retarding timing and/or adding fuel to the main maps will eliminate any knock correction. The Hydra, or I should say Phil's tuning, is nice for knock. Unlike the stock ECU which yanks several degrees of timing, Phil pulls 1 or 2 and adds a little fuel, power is mostly sustained and detonation is abated. I'm not sure how he programmed that since the Hydra just pull timing. He may have used the EGT trim wired into the knock signal. You can lock knock corrections in by just reproducing them in the main maps, then your knock event should drop to zero. I'd say in general you are interested most in the knock return values--knock events--let Phil's tuning do what it's programmed to do for knock correction.
