Went through the thread and searched...
JC because I am about to put together and install my K&N Typhoon...Any advice? I know its rudimentary, but just checkn in with those who have already done it. BTW, is it detrimental if I do not install the heat shield?

The directions are straight forward from K&N. Just follow those. As far as putting it together I did that in the house, before setting it under the hood to mount.

I agree with VIR as far as putting it together in the house. No need to stand outside freezing to death. I say keep the shield also. Mine rubs the hood but nothing major enough to not use it. I am not very mechanically inclined, so I had a friend help hold the heat shield while installing the gaskets and stuff. A helping hand will definatly cut down on time.

Yea, I had planned on install in my loft, then down to my garage to install in the car. A buddy of mine offered to help so I may bring it over his way to finish up. Thanks for the help so far.

I just installed mine....woohoo is right! It was very easy, and if I say that, you can take it to the bank, cuz I'm very limited in ability. Hey, who knows how these are supposed to sound? It's raining here, so I couldn't get a good feel on my test drive. Heard a "rushing" air sound--is that normal???

You just bypassed a part of your intake that helps silence induction noises, of course it is normal.
