Ever since I bought the '03 WRX wagon I've had a bitch of a time getting the hood to close after popping it. It just never wants to engage and lock back down. I have tried gently pushing it down, dropping from a low height, and forcefully attempting to make it stick (after about 10 minutes of trying the others)
Anyone know what the hell is wrong? Damn i went to fill my wiper fluid today in the cold and though I was going to have to drive home with the hood popped.

It sounds as if the hood latch is not aligned properly or something is caught in the way. (check near the hinges) Has your car ever been in an accident? If not and you are under 36K, take it to the dealer...they should fix it under the 3/36 warranty.

spray the hell out of the latch with wd-40. I had the same problem and its gone now.

no accidents... and I actually have a 6 (or 7) year extended warranty. The dealer is just far away and I hate to schedule to be without it for a day if it is something simple.
thanks for the tip.
There are rubber bump stops in the front on each side above the grill where the hood would meet the grill. They are adjustable screw them down a little.

i'll try the bump stops and the wd. I just wish it would warm up some.
Oh man I forgot you actually have winter. I'm enjoying sunny SoCal.
You don't need any tools to adjust the bumper things just turn them by hand.
