local shop is probably your best bet, you're not going to see much better gains out of a prefab'd one, though you'll see a huge jump in cost.

just get some piping bent. they might want to weld the piping to your muffler to make the job easier... try to resist this but since your muffler is cheap, i'd say just go with what the shop guys say.

I would'nt call $190 cheap for my muffler. Its not just the muffler its the axel back plus it has the flange still on it i just cut it turned it and rewelded it back on.I would rather buy a premaid one because i can put it on myself.I would buy the pipe and make it myself but i don't have any way to bend the pipe and dont want to have to weld on both flanges or the hangers.I know people say the flowmasters are junk but it has a lifetime warranty from where i bought it.Plus i love the sound.

compared to a lot of other axelbacks(scoobysport, stromung, HKS) it's relatively cheap. i didn't mean to say it's an ebay piece welded on to a crushed pipe, but... it's not the best sounding/looking/enduring out there.

if it's worth it to you, get the stromung midpipe.

Good lord! That's expensive for a midpipe! I'm in the same boat as you. I broke my midpipe during the snow we just recently had. My car is at the dealership now. I'm picking it up tomorrow and taking it to Meineke mufflers for them to make another midpipe for me. They made my original back in....lemme see.......1998 sometime. 6 years ain't bad. If I remembered right, it was about $70 or so. I'll find out tomorrow.

Yeah thats pricey but the shops around where i live are either way to expensive or are idiots.I would not let them make exhaust for my lawnmower. I know because i used to work for a speed shop and i used to deliver to these shops all the time.Plus i heard to many horror stories from customers.

I just got back from Meineke mufflers. The midpipe fix cost me $40.00. It sounds just like it used too. I'm happy! :D

I say go custom, or buy a used prefab. one from someone here.

But if you want to spend the cash, www.techworkseng.com has the best ones around, IMO.
