I was thinking of buying an apexi safc for my 99 impreza L. i was just wondering if anyone has or had one and how well it works and if it is worth the money?

I've got the original S-AFC on my '99 RS:

HIGHLY recommended. Its the coolest looking thing you'll ever have in the interior of the car; the display is beautiful, has lots of functions and is easy to use. I found it crucial for setting the A/F ratio after installing a CAI, and back when I had a J tube intake my car would not rev past 5500RPM without it at all.
I'm planning to sell it so I can install an S-AFC-2, but I need to figure out if the wiring harness is the same.

Post a pic of the connector from the unit to the wiring harness and I'll tell you if it's the same on the SAFCII.

I have a safc-2 in my 95 impreza with the 1.8. It was tricky to wire up considering it was the universal kit but I got the pin out sheet from ravens-bladeimpreza.com. I used it before with my CAI and exhaust and it was great! Now I use it to control fuel on my custom To4B turbo kit. Its great because it even accounts for external dump BOV's.

the 'map' intakes you refer to aren't map intakes, they're IAT
