Yes they can. It's where the stock tweets go. It'll improve the sound, but it's better if they go elsewhere. I moved mine from the doors to the dash and they work better.

I am not sure what you are asking. I have after market "tweets" behind the front door panels where the stock tweeters are mounted for my WRX. Are you trying to mount it behind the door panels or on the door panel so people can see it?

I too am interested in mounting aftermarket tweeters in the stock tweeter location in the doors. How much room is back there?

Since his name ends in RS and he joined quite a while ago I think he's got an older RS (like mine).

I don't know what the inside of the door looks like on the new ones.

On the older Impreza (my 98 L and 01 RS both had it) there is a speaker mesh in front of the door handle. That's the stock tweeter spot. It'll fit just about any <2.0" tweeter. Almost all decent component system tweets will go in there with lots of extra space.
The problem is that the mesh is quite thick so it blocks sound. If you're not a total audiophile it won't matter. :)

In my WRX I mounted the tweeters from my MB Quarts in the stock mounting brackes with no modification needed. I am sure that they haven't changed much mounting wise.

What you will need to do is remove the bracket that the stock tweeter is mounted on...try to pry off the stock tweeter without damaging the bracket as the tweeter magnet has been glued wih some crazy glue or something, to the stock bracket and you can take your new component tweeter and place it on the old bracket which the mounting screw should just go right through the opening of where the old tweeter was mounted on the bracket.

What you can also do is (not recommended) is just remove the stock tweeters, which cleanly disconnect from the 6.5inch midrange, and just use some adheasive and mount the tweeter beind the stock tweeter grill, if there is one. This is the cheap and effective way to do it. But it saves you a lot of hassle. Just try not to place the tweeter too far from the midrange as you will loose depth in your imaging when you place the tweeter any farther than 6 inches from your midrange. and totally through off your frequency response. If you have any other questions man, email me at home at audiogod93@aol.com

I removed my tweets and sold them, complete with "upgraded" 6.5's, wires, and brackets. The Eclipse tweets I screwed into the sheet metal. They ended up pointing right out the grills with the 45* mount. Now they're on top of the dash for the world to see.

Ok, anybody have any experience putting tweeters in the factory spots if you don't have the factory tweeter kit?
